Skakeskin Arrow Cresting Question
«

I've been pouring over some of the past snakeskin arrow cresting threads and have become inspired by the masterpieces posted. I have one question for you guys who make these works of art.
Have you found it better to have the ends of the skin meet along a perfect seam or to just roll the skin around the shaft and allow some overlap?
Ideally, I think the ends meeting at a perfect seem would look nicer, but I can envision difficultly actually achieving that, particularly since the skins will shrink a little upon drying and might leave a gap. Thanks for any advise in advance.

Adam I make mine meet. I cut them to size with a scissors. I've not had any gaps due to skin shrinkage.
ClintV once told me he overlaps then takes a razor blade and runs it down the skin, pulling the excess off the top and sliding the excess out from under the bottom it that makes sense to you.

Gee, why not just buy the right size snake?
Thought about this myself. Good question Mr Keiper, and a good answer, too, Mr. Lotz.
I take it that the cutting and removal of the excess skin must be done while the glue is still unset.
I am looking at the vinyl wraps, as the snakes are protected in Canada.
