Staining Gold Tip Shafts
«

I recently bought a dozen Gold Tip blems and would like to try staining or dying the caps instead of painting them. Has anyone had success doing this? What materials and techniques did you use? Thanks for any help you can provide.

I have and it looks good. Rough the area just a little with steel wool and then use fiebings leather dye. regular stain won't work.
Wipe on in excess and let dry for a little while. Then wipe off. If they are too dark, add a little denatured alcohol to a paper towl and continue to wipe the shaft until desired tone.
good luck, bigjim

Thanks drewster, i have wondered the same thing.
Jim did you top coat the shafts afterwards? If so what worked the best?

Every once in a while I stain mine red. One at a time. Just shoot it at something breathing.
