You're in a good place, Dave. I used to hunt the far back places in the Delta National Forest when I lived in Mississippi. My spots were in the sloughs feeding the Little Sunflower River. Usually had to winch a couple of times to get in and out but it was worth it. Big woods, ducks, beaver, and plenty of deer.
Good Luck!

Just hunted a 4 day trip just above Satartia along the Yazoo river. Plenty of deer and Palmettos.

You are right they were just getting cranked up. And I did manage to get my last blackpowder kill. Just no fun in guns anymore for me. Last year I went bow only and purpose to do so from now on.

Yeah the Palmettos are pretty thick in Panter Swamp NWR too...Hard to stalk in but you can hear critters coming for a long way if you're in a climber!

I plan to go back to longbows only next year but I will prolly still use a gun; I like to eat deer meat. lol hard to kill a few with a longbow only hunting 300 acres of heavily hunted land. We have a ton of deer though and a great group of guys. Would love for some of yall to come over in February for a squirrel hunt. I hunt at Rocky Springs between Utica and Port Gibson.

Guys,
I would love to participate in a Mississippi Trad Gang hunt if one could be organized, I ‘d do my part whatever it may be to see one put together. I think it would a fun time around a campfire of MS traditional bow hunters
