How do you make a kid smile?

Well, beyond showing love and compassion, and above all, patience, you can also try crafting some homemade archery stuff.

If you're making something for a little one this year, post up your crafting skills. It might help others gain ideas.

I bought some 48" 1/4 dowels, with the best grain I could scrounge up, and will be finishing up these all white Hill inspired arrows soon thanks to fellow tradganger and archery ambassador Jon Stewart (fletching and nocks). And I had some scrap leather to make a somewhat Hill style back quiver for my 6 year old grandson.

Wat to go Bud!   :notworthy:  I'm working on an arm guard for the boy and a back quiver for the girl.

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

If I could find a good way to have an armguard fasten I'd be making those out like crazy.

Fastening ideas? I can get the shock cord but have limited access to antlers for buttons. I need to craft an plug cutter to cut some 1/2" leather discs. And 1/4" discs for spacers.

Let's see or hear of those ideas.

Thanks all.

You can get some brass boot hooks and the brass rivets to attach them from Tandy Leather. Faster than stitching and work really well

Piece of any size you want pipe. Grind a beveled edge. Hammer and you have a disc cutter. Cut 6,8,10...... Then take a small dowel and poke them out.

Doesn't have to be heavy pipe copper or conduit would work. Just put a wood block underneath .

You can make fasteners out of 3/4 inch dowels.

I've tried wood. It splits too easy.

How do you flare the back side of those boot hooks Bladepeek? I have discussed those hooks with my local leather shop but his tool (set) for flaring the back is waaay too costly.

I was thinking these might work...but I have yet to try. They'd need a copper washer in the back, and a backing of softer leather stitched into place.

I have a little rivet set that I use for setting snaps, they're not expensive.

If I were you, though, I'd grab that offer of antler buttons. To my mind they look so much better.
