A St. Joe River Bows Christmas surprise
« on: December 26, 2012, 07:05:00 PM »
Hey everyone, wanted to drop in briefly to let you all know we are still on this side of the grass. Dealing with some things and just don't have the mental energy to hang on the websites much, if at all.

Just thought I'd stop in and give you a little snapshot of our Christmas respite. We took a few days "off" of our situation and just enjoyed this time of year.

This past summer at Denton Hill, Lisa and I met Tracey and Dave from St. Joe River bows. Tracey spent a lot of time with Lisa on shooting form, and had her shooting a few of their bows. She really liked this one bow, and talked to Tracey about what slight changes she might make if she ordered one from them.

We were not in a position to order a bow that day. A week or so later, I just could not contain myself. I called Tracey and luckily, she still had that exact bow that Lisa really liked (and shot very well I might add). We discussed a few things, and a few days later I was able to place a deposit to hold that very same bow.

Tracey wanted to make the changes that Lisa and her had discussed, and to personalize it for her with her name, and some native American symbols, since Lisa has a warm spot in her heart for American Indian art.

The plan was exactly what we did. Hide the details (and bow!) from Lisa until Christmas. I can't tell you how many conversations Lisa has started with me about getting herself a custom bow, or reminding me emphatically that she "left her bow at Denton Hill", or "Next year is MY year, I'm getting one, and that is that!".  Dang I'm a sneaky dude, because thanks to Tracey and Dave at St.Joe River Bows, I was able to completely shock Lisa with the very bow she fell in love with about 5 months ago.

Can't thank Tracey and Dave enough for all they have done for me in "conspiring" with me to do this. Lisa is the strongest, most positive person I know. She is always "glass half full". She keeps our family positive and her motto is "we'll be fine". She can always make me smile, and she is my rock. She wanted this bow BAD the day we left Denton Hill, and I couldn't make it happen then. She sure deserved it, and thanks to Tracey and Dave, I made sure it happened as soon as I could.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Wow, what a story.  That is great.

Lisa, enjoy your new bow. It sounds like you have the right man helping you pull the string.

This is a very heart warming story. And I like where Lisa's name was written on the bow. I have never seen that before.

Thank you so much Jim for letting us know how the surprise went. I was wondering if you'd be able to wait for Christmas. The waiting must have been killing you! You worked so hard to make this happen for her.
We meet so many great people thru the traditional archery community but Lisa stuck with me in my mind and heart long after we went home from Denton Hill. She is truly a lovely person and I'm so happy she has this bow. I can't wait to see you both again this year!
Just get outside and blow the stink off!!!
