I had a compound for one or two seasons around 1979-80.I hated it and shot it without sights or a release.

I have always had recurves or longbows before and after that time.

No cams for sure. Strickly a longbow shooter. Havn't fired a gun since 2000 even though I own several nice ones. Just prefer the quiet and solitude of hunting with my longbow. To each his own.  :campfire:

Sold three of my four compounds after I first started shooting a friends recurve 1 1/2 years ago. Last spring I bought my first used recurve, fell in love and spent the two archery seasons I hunted this past year (Washington and Oregon) carrying my recurve. My remaining compound is collecting dust in the closet. Don't plan on going back.

I did rifle hunt with my brother and buddy in Montana this year as our tags were already paid for.

Made the switch last year to all traditional.  Hunted the early season with my recurve last year, then hunted the rut with my compound.

Enjoyed hunting with the recurve MUCH more than I did with the compound.  Made the commitment over the winter, sold my compounds and went all traditional in 2012...and had a blast.  Won't be going back, that's for sure!

Archery has always been trad only for me. When I first got involved in archery, the compound bow was not yet on the market. I got out of archery for seceral years when I got old enough to hunt with firearms, but when I again picked up the bow, I still stayed trad. For 16 consecutive seasons now, I have deer hunted exclusively with the longbow.

Sold my compound to my Brother in Law last night. Figured was the only way to fully commit. I really enjoyed my recurve this year.

I'm happy to say I use everything from selfbows to High performance compounds,,, depends on if I need meat in the freezer asap and if its gun season or not. if I'm truely bowhunting for hunt and enjoyment its usually no camo and most likely one of my osage selfbows,,, my passion for 26yrs has been stickbows and I prefer selfbows where I consider my recurves to be high tech, compound since 97 with a full freezer since, like shopping in the meat section.

compounds only get taken when I need meat now, which doesn't always work but beats bringing a shotgun.

when I really need to bring a bang stick its will be a primitive blackpowder, usually a flintlock..

not saying this because of this forum but if I had to pick one bow only for everything it would have to be a recurve and then I'd hide a selfbow up in the rafters and sneak it out when nobodys looking

I had a compound in 1976, and 1977.  Went back to recurve for 1978 season.  The only compound I have shot since belonged to a friend.  We went bear hunting in Michigans UP.  Stayed in a friends cabin on a lake.  The friend got his bowtech out of the case and asked if I would like to shoot it.  I drew it back and shot his arrow about 500 yards out into the lake.  First and only time i ever shot with a release!

Trad only for the last 20 years.  I had a compound once, got really frustrated trying to work on the dang thing.

Gave it away and never looked back.  Longbows are a lot easier to tune, even if the sights do seem to get out of whack once in a while.  ;)

I am striving to not only be traditional only but likely go selfbow only in a year or two.....and only take down my glass bows for fun or to share with others.  I want to get where I can make and shoot my own....I guess it is an evolution.

I only hunt with bows, so I only have bows.  I have nothing for NWO to come and get, of course, they could declare a ban on bent sticks, then there will be a problem.
