Hill 64" opinions

I own a 64" TD "RedMan" 53@28" and several other Hill bows that are 66" in length. My draw length is just short of 28". Although I do not have a problem shooting the 64" bow, I much prefer the 66" length in the 56/57@28"range. Craig will tell you to stick with the 66/68" bow at your 29" draw.With that said I went with less draw weight to accomodate for the shorter length on my 64" "Red Man" and I'm very happy with the results.

you could pull 31" with that bow, no problem there.

but @ 29" for a 64" hill, it will stack on ya like crazy and make you very very sad.

with a 29" draw length on a hill style american flat longbow, you will get some stack with a 66" length.  i wouldn't get less than a 68" amo length for a true 29" draw length.

choose wisely and as always, ymmv.

thnx guys i truly appreciate the info and looking back over the hills iv'e owned one of the sweetest was a 70" redman stacked arrows like crazy just too long for the thickets i hunt!

If you were looking for a good shooting 64"longbow for your draw, I would suggest a Mohawk or a Robertson and I would not worry much about the extra little bends, nor would I complain about the Schulz reflexed longbow speed.

both are fine bows for sure and i've owned both just never had a chance to trade for a 64" Hill thnx

I draw 26.5" and I won't buy any Hill style bow under 66". 67" shoots best for me.

I'd go minimum 66" for my 27" draw,,, on a hill style bow.. reflex/deflex I'd go 64 minimum..

I'll just add to the chorus...I draw 26.5 and wouldn't go less than 66".

One fall I hunted with a 68" Hill and never found it a problem because of it's length. And I hunted some pretty thick stuff.

I have 7 hills, the shortest hill is 60" reverse handle, a 66" a couple 68" and three 70" and I draw around 29.  the 60" is an outstanding
tight cover hunting bow but in know way feels like a hill there somthing about the 70" bows that just feels right and my Kramer "big five" 5 lam, even more so,  so the length will balance speed vs  classic feel, short/ fast or long/elegant

I wouldn't do it myself. I draw 28" and like 68" bows the best--66" is marginal in a Hill style bow for me.

I have a 66 in. Northern Mist Shelton that I put on a digital scale and it stacked under 3 lb. from 28 in. to 29 in. I draw a 29 in. and it shoots fine for me.
