Just took it out to my "leather guy" and he critiqued it for me and gave me some tips to make it even better.

I call him my leather guy cause he has helped me with many small projects which keep me from going stir crazy this time of year when coons aren't running and I'm not bowhunting. If you ever want some really "high end" custom leather work done check out Marty Overstreet of Circle-Bar-T leathers. You'll be amazed.

I'll work on another model tonight and post a pic in the AM.

Thanks for the kind words and suggestions.  I like working on projects like this and sharing them with other bowhunters

If a person was going to contruct one similar to that, what type of leather should they buy? I have always wanted a side quiver with the same type of broadhead hood.  It makes so much more sense than foam.  Very nice Job!

Thanks Kurt, How you been Man? Hard to explain but pretty simple if you ever take one apart.  There's a flange molded into the rubber portion of the quiver.  That flange is 1 1/4" or so and it fits around a 7/8" or so hole cut into the leather and there a washer and a threaded bolt that holds all that together.  Like I said, very simple when you start taking it apart.

Pack, these quivers were made with some belly side veg-tanned leather. It's about 3/32" thick 8-10 pound I think.   They have more stretch than I would want in a finished product.  The final models will be made with some really good leather from the back or "top grain"

Trap, there is a similarity to the Slim Jim that Annawakee makes. At EFA we took a different route to keep it more compact by staggering the blades rather then having them side by side.

Copy or not, it's still a good looking quiver. You might be the next new quivermeister.

Very nice work! When you come up with a 3 blade 3 arrow design I'd be more than happy to test it out during spring Turkey season   :readit:    :bigsmyl:

Just wanted to quickly show the modifications made.  I added a beavertail on the bottom two pieces of leather. This allows the back to be sewn, makes inserting broadheads easier since a shelf is created to position them before inserting and takes away square corners.  I'll post a pic of the original for comparison.  Fun project for sure, thanks for letting me share it with you.

Very nice, if you have issues with the lacing gettin cut you could re lace with rawhide if you don't want to use rivets.

Thanks Charles, I do want to avoid rivets.

Rustic, the creme color lacing is 4 strands of B50 Dacron.  The white lacing is artificial sinew. Not sure what kind of stitch it is.  Cross-stitch???

Daryl that looks awesome.
I traded for a rubber hooded one and tried to cover it in leather... lets just say it was not a success, I thought if I took it apart I would be able to get the leather a little snugger...

Now I am thinking I'll get in line for one of yours

The Slim Jim credit was very classy.

Nice job, Trap.
How about a closer look at that knife/file combo?
