Cover Boy--Bryan Burkhardt
« on: January 08, 2013, 03:40:00 PM »
Wow, so many ways I could go with that title...could it be GQ?  Forbes?  TIME?

How about The Michigan Traditional Bowhunters Magazine?

Nice to see Bryan's (and Kevin's) smiling face greeting me when I opened up the mailbox.  It almost has a retro look to it with the black&white.  Classic might be a better description.

Bryan has an 8 page feature article of this year's Alaskan adventure in the newest issue.

Bryan has done a whole lot more than most in the field, but would never say so himself.  He is a great camp mate and can drive a Suburban like a Ferrari...

Great job BB to one of the good guys      :notworthy:

Dave, Google up the MTB and become a member...it is cheap.  Better yet, come up for the Banquet, I think it is March 9 and Denny Sturgis is the guest speaker...that will be worth the price of admission!  I will gather up more info and post it later.

OK,

Here is a link to join the Michigan Traditional Bowhunters.  It costs $20/year.  Just Bryan's article is worth that.  Last issue Chuck DeLeeuw (Ibow) had a similar feature on a lifetime of black bear hunting.

   Join MTB for Bryan\\'s issue

I bet you can even get Mr. Alaska to sign the magazine cover...I am pretty sure I did this in the past, will have to look in my "pile"!

I just checked with Command Central and she will be gone celebrating her birthday with her sister in Holland, so cound the boys and I in for that one.  Just the thought of their buffet brings a smile to my face, not to mention the quality raffle too.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

The foundation of this story is the extreme generosity of some quality friends.  Steve Turay from Northern Mist donated a longbow to MTB (he does this frequently) to be raffled off and I was the fortunate winner.  Monty Browning and Bob Nancarrow unselfishly helped me fulfill my child dreams of bowhunting DIY style in Alaska.  They truly are my Alaskan mentors.  Kevin Dill is the other guy on the cover and my long-time hunting partner.  We've spent a ton of time together chasing animals all over North America.  When I shot this bull, Kevin ended his hunt to help me take care of the moose...that's the kind of hunting partner and unselfish person he is.

I have been blessed beyond measure and I want to thank all of these guys for enriching my life.

Join MTB, read the story and find out what happens when a grizzly shows up...
