1/2 of a Morrison Bow ! For Now
« on: January 08, 2013, 06:01:00 PM »
I just finished talking to Bob Morrison, and order to 19" riser, in forest green.  After talking with Bob about the limbs (max 1) I knew that I couldn't get both.  So Bob made some suggestions to me and he setting my riser up and I will add the limbs when I get the riser.

The limbs I will be using are the Sebastian flute carbon/wood limbs.  I ordered the 28# and was advised that they would come out to be 34# -36#.  Bob is setting it up for shooting off the shelf.  I told him it was like sticking a Chevy hood on a Cadillac body.  But that's what I have to do right now.  I am just getting into it so I have to take it easy.  Once I get the in's and outs of it, I will order a set of Max 1's from Bob.  Bob is very good to talk with and very knowledgeable.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Never shot a bow (ILF) like this before.  From all of my research it looks like it's a good setup for someone with a shoulder injury.  I guess I will find out !

I've never shot the new Max 1 limbs but from what I've read people love them. However they are pricey. I bought used two pairs of Samick BF Extremes and these are the smoothest limbs I've ever shot at less than half the price of the Max 1s. I also had a pair of used Dryad Epic limbs and I liked them too. Even the Black Max limbs have a good following. Keep an open mind and try to shoot some other limbs during the year at shoots.

I think you will enjoy it, don't be worried about limbs for now. Lots of good used limbs on the classifieds for not a lot of money. You'll be surprised how well some of them shoot!  Nice thing is you can mix and match limbs till you find what you really like and then have back ups or just sell them!    Enjoy!

That's what made me order a Morrison riser.  I was looking at the Titan 19" and also the Dalaa.  And the people that we're trying to sell to me didn't sound like they knew what color shirt and pants they put on that morning !

So I called Bob and talk to him for about the third time, and we decided on the
19" riser.  I also didn't pay attention either.  I didn't know that the Max 1 limb's were $800.  I have too skinny back now !  It became official in December I am now working for the gov't !!!  Yes I cut my hours back at work so that I could take that big little green check.  And hunt when I want to hunt.  Now I just Gotta wait a few more years for my wife to retire.

I think that ILF bow is what you make it.  It looks like it could be frustrating if you let it.  But all of the variables make it look so attractive.  I can't wait to until my stuff gets here.  I did the whole shebang.  I even ordered a safari tough case for it.  I was going to shoot off of a elevated rest.  But I was glad that Bob talk me into shooting off the shelf because I like that.

I'll put pictures up when I get it, but I will probably do something with the finish on the limbs.  They are silver and white with some Black Lines on them.  I think it be pretty cool If I could put some skin's on them.  But I'll find out how they shoot first.  I'll get my best set together, and then think about dress them up.  Lots of time for that.

Thanks everyone

The Max 1 limbs are $675 on Bob's site.  Not cheap, but I'd love to have a set!  That's the same price his regular carbon/foam limbs have been for a couple years, but it sounds like they offer some nice improvements in feel/performance.

You were right !  I was looking at the ones that have "Cottenmouth Skins" on them for $850.

The others are $675.00

that sounds better, pretty much all the max1's I say were $750+

also Why the titan? feels great, can add a pluger and rest if wanted, can adjust the alignment of the limbs and change the grip for cheap if you decide you want to try something different. also can ad a stabilizer front and back if you wanted.  just a very customizatable set up. love mine

heard great things about the Morrison risers though and would love to try a all phenolic one someday
