Newbie on Board!
« on: January 11, 2013, 08:52:00 AM »
Just wanted to stop by and say Howdy. While I no longer participate in archery of any kind, I'm a long time lover of the sport. In my younger years I managed to shoot every kind of bow except crossbow, but my absolute favorites were the longbows and recurves. I harvested my first archery deer with a used Browning Prep 45# recurve that I paid $35 for. These days, my interests are in fishing. Mainly fly fishing. Anyway, Howdy to all. This looks like a very friendly forum.

Welcome, Joe.  Nothing wrong with fly fishing, I love it myself.  Any chance of you picking a bow back up?

Welcome.  Fly fishing and trad archery are similar in many ways.  Limiting distances, more skill required for consistent placement of cast object, thick strings and feathers.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Money isn't a big object in my family. It's a GIANT object, so I'm afraid there is little chance. But my fondest memories are traipsing around Washington's Blue Mountains with a longbow in hand.

Welcome I let that Fly Fishing thing distract me from archery for a few years. I mostly fish for bass bream in local rivers and small ponds. Love chucking a 7wt with #4 foam poppers! Anyway now my oldest son loves to bowhunt so we do a lotta arra flingin.

Joe,

You are a lucky man to have spent time in the Blue's with a bow in hand.  For someone whom has not had the experience, I could not describe how beautiful and peaceful that world is.

Welcome and join in.  Share some memories of your time in Mountains.

Maybe you're on your way back to trad archery? If you hang around here too long, we can't be held responsible for you picking it back up.  Welcome aboard!

Glad to meet you.  Enjoy. Very few times my truck hits the road without a bow and a flyrod (or three) inside   :goldtooth:
