David , it would be my pleasure to meet up with you and also see some of the beautiful bows you have made. By the way, where are you located in NM? I do enjoy getting out and shooting some new locations. Still let me know next time ya make it up here.

Alright, I had small heart attack today when I looked at the price of 300gr broad heads!

That got me thinking that if I was going to only shoot this bow this year, I may as well go all in!

I called up a good friend of mine and he is going to build me a set of wood arrows. He told me to get him a picture of something I like and he would make them.

So... I challenge you to help me come up with a design and the winner get enough feathers to fletch up a dozen arrows! Click on the link to enter.

Well I had big plans of going rabbit hunting in the mesa this weekend but I got a little side tracked Friday with an unexpected job offer after only graduating 8 months ago! I guess I will have to stick around the house this weekend but I still have some shooting plans.

So I only made it as far as the backyard today but I still had a ton of fun!

I decited to do a few arrow chronograph tests again
I used the same setup as earlier this week with the exception that I remove the whisker silencers and it was nearly 50 deg compared the the 17 earlier this week.

I used a 14 strand 452x  (fast flight) string with padded loops and also found out the string weighed 114 grains.

I got a fairly average 5fps increase in bow speed with the silencers removed at an average speed of 177fps.

The second string I tested was a 17 strand Dacron  string, it had a weight of 198 grains.

I got an average speed of 168 fps with the non fast flight string

I did not notice any real differences in noise between the two strings but I did see more consistent numbers while shooting the 452x string.

The next test I am planning on performing is the same as this test but I want to use some 8gpp arrows 10gpp arrows and 12gpp arrows to see what the speed difference in arrow speed between fast flight and non fast flight when arrows get heavyer and lighter.

The 10 gr./lb. of draw weight rule seems to work pretty well overall...heavy enough to penetrate effectively on game, light enough for targets.

Good luck on that job offer.  They seem to be in short supply these days.

Brian, I went back to school a few years back and in May received my Bachelors in Construction Management. I guess that is part of the reason it took me 8 months to find a job. I would have to say you are correct that in the last few weeks I have been truly blessed.

Scott, I guess I just wrapped up my first of 52 weeks with this bow and I think this could be my best year of archery yet!
