Larch shafts...

Who shoot them or have shot them? What do you like/dislike about them? I want to get new arrows, and I shoot a NM Classic 65#@29 with 145grn points, FF skinny. And a R/D LB, cut to center, 70#@30, FF skinny, with 175 points.

I would like to have 10-12 gpp total arrow weight.

What do you guys think??

The only ones I like equally as well are tamarack!  Ok, just being funny since they are the SAME thing.

I think this is about the perfect arrow wood.  very similar to Doug Fir but denser.

i made a couple batches of russian larch--and they were TOUGH!!and if memory serves me--probably 12+gpp

How does the weight compare to ash? I have some ash arrows that come in around 750 gns with a 160 grizzley.

Chuck, I guess I will know soon enough... From what Jonathan(kootenairiverarchery) wrote me, a 30" shaft 75-80, would be around 530 grn(shaft only), so had to that 145grn head so 675grn, plus sealer, feathers, nock...  so probably around 685grn for a total arrow weight?!?

bamboo, 12 gpp would be great!!

I like them and just bought some for my Grandson in 50-55#. Got them at Raptor Archery, call Ted Fry (sponsor).

They are a little heavier than spruce, distinctive grain, tough, and straight grain.
