Footing Arrows

I need Help! How do you glue on your footings? Making some Hog arras. Beman 340's cut 28",50gr inserts, 250gr. Tusker single bevel (lw)heads,3x4"feathers.Plus 2" 2216 footings. total arra wt. 600gr.Out of a 60" 66@28 a&h acs. How do you glue the footings so they don't come loose? Sliding up the shaft etc.. ANY Help??

Did you check the How To section on the main page. I think most use epoxy I could be wrong.

I use Gorilla Super Glue. Prep both surfaces and it'll never come loose.

Didn't see anthing about when/how to glue them on. I know I'll use Dextron 3 ton 2 part epoxy. I want my footings to be even with the top of the 50gr. inserts.Do you put the inserts in/on first --or the footings? How do you get the glue even on the front and back of the footing??

You will need to glue the footing on before you put the weight tube and/or insert in.  Some inserts are larger that the shaft diameter, so the footing won't slide over the insert.  First, make sure the footing will slide onto the shaft smoothly without any burrs.  I use a chamfering tool used for reloading shells and smooth and chamfer the inside and outside of the footing.  I use J-B Weld and have never had a footing come loose.  Spread a thin layer on the shaft and then twist the footing on the shaft to ensure an even coating of adhesive.  I also glue in the insert after I have the footing in place.  You can adjust the footing to make sure it snugs up against the insert.  Makes a tough arrow :-)

JB weld.I either use a 1" chunk of 2216 over a GT Trad blem,or if I want to add more weight and strength I use a 1" piece of chrome-moly golf club shaft.JB Weld,Bulletproof.
