Charlie, go after the pygmy cottontail next trip west.  Not much of a target (or a meal)

I know there is a brush rabbit on the west coast and it's pretty small. Where do the pygmy cottontails live?

Izzy, ya' gotta' find another hunting spot.  Looks like hunters are multiplying like rabbits around there.      :biglaugh:

A "bunny slam", Now there's a lofty goal.  There's swamp rabbits in the Missouri bootheel, but just cottontails in my part of the state.

It's not a true slam unless you include the "giant jack" Mr Charlie.   :)

I love hunting snowshoes.  Here's a few pics.  Would like to go after Arctic hares sometime (a 10- 12lb hare)       but it would be a lot of time and money to get to where they are here.

Our Michigan cottontails are so tough that sometimes it takes more than one arrow to stop em.

Charlie - yes they are fun.  Did they cycle much where you were, or did you have similar numbers from year to year ?  Numbers are dropping here after peaking a couple years ago, but still enough to make it interesting.

Awesome critters. Ive only seen them while deer hunting in the Adirondack. The areas in my region of NY that are known to have populations Ive searched for miles and miles without cutting a track.

Fair number of Snowshoes in the central Adirondacks but tough to hunt in the thick Hemlock and Spruce that they like to hand around.....I see lots of tracks usually with a coyote track right with them. The population is very cyclic with highs and lows. When the number are high you'll see more bobcat, coyote and fisher sign also! Went a few weeks ago but didn't see a one.

Why would some one want to chase rabbits?    All i need to get is a snow shoe and I'll have a California slam on rabbits.
Have taken Brush cottontails ,desert cottontails And our big blacktail jacks. Theres another brush cotton tail but its protected. Rabbits are right up there with yotes.Wonder why my Friends call me thumper?.
