It's an old song with me, but here goes the story. I received an email this weekend from Elmer Patton of Crow Creek Archery. The email contained pics of a special order Black Feather longbow Mr. Patton had built for a customer. The customer backed out on the Black Feather and instead bought another model of bow, the Clovis, that Mr. Patton had in stock.

Needless to say, when I saw the pics of the bow, plus the description of the rest of the bow, I decided I wanted the bow. I reached agreement with the owner of the Archery Shop, where I go to shoot on Saturdays and to buy stuff, for him to buy my present Black Feather.

I put a MO in Priority Mail to Mr. Patton this afternoon. The bow will be heading my way this week. Pics are below:

I don't/didn't, I ran right into it as soon as I saw the pics. All I had to do was confirm a sale of the old bow. It wasn't hard on the eyes either, but this one has so much great looking Bocote in the bow I had no problem letting Budro buy the other one off of me!

Man that is great lookin wood...and graceful design as well.. I will have to make it up to buds and shoot that one with your permission of course..hope all is well..

As soon as Mr. Patton sends me pics of a bow that knocks my feet off. He's already knocked my socks off with the pics of this bow!

After I receive it, I'm going to respectfully request that he no send me anymore pics of new bows he's built! I would really like to hold onto this one. He's dropping the draw weight to 48#@28" for me, refinishing the limbs and it'll ship a week from today.

He won't let me pay him anything extra for it, but there's nothing stopping me from sending him a Christmas Card with a token of my appreciation enclosed!

WOW great looking bow. The Blackfeather is on my short list of bows to shoot. I love the slim riser.

Elmer Patton is probably one of the best kept secrets outside the state of AR. I had never heard of him or his bows until joe vt posted a thread of his Black Feather, which he sold and I barely missed buying. That's when the search began.

I'll be picking up the bow at the Archery Shop a week from Saturday. Please do come down and shoot it some. I'll probably be there around noon and later.

The MultiCam was mailed yesterday. They started work on the Harrier GL yesterday and will be completed in three weeks.

Bob, do you want to buy the Harrier GL? It's going to be 64" and around 48#@28".

Elmer makes a mighty fine bow, very pretty one there for sure. I really like the grips and feel of his bows. He's making me another one now.

I like the grip and feel, too. When you say feel are you talking to the talking qualities, which I like the feel of, too. Or are you talking to the finish he uses on his bows, which is the best I've ever seen on a bow.

I like the balance and overall smoothness, both in the performance and the looks of it. They just feel good to me all the way around.

I've also brought a couple others in the Lowcountry into the fold. I sold my first one to the owner of the Archery Shop where I go to shoot. He also has a $200 deposit from another fella for a Black Feather. He wants his to look like my first one and also be 48#@28".

Thanks! It is my favorite combination of woods. After that combination it would be Bocote with Bolivian Rosewood or Macassar Ebony. Actually, I have a Marriah Thermal on order that will be Thai Rosewood with Bocote in the riser and Walnut limbs. I now how Ric makes his bows and I've left the remainder of the accenting up to his artistry.
