Shakira, Hillbilly Deluxe, Slim, Death In The Long Grass, Hippy Chick and Lidsey. Sakira just reminds you of, well Shakira. Its a Griffin longbow. Hillbilly Deluxe is a decked out Zipper. Slim is a super lightweight 46# Griffin, Death In The Long Grass is a Green bamboo with sunburst stain. And Hippy Chick is a simple, earthy, blond, sexy osage longbow built by my buddy Glenbo. Lindsey, Id rather keep her namesake to myself but she is another take down Griffin.

I have a wheelie bow PSE Brute X I named Bruteesha, she's my little ghetto princess........in the woods or the hood  :)
I recently got my Matrin Hatfield take-down but haven't felt a name come to me yet. When I hold it in my arms I feel a masculine energy where as my wheelie bow felt feminine. I suppose he will let me know what to call him when he's comfortable with me  :)

"Broken Heart" a 1959 Bear Kodiak, named because of a cracked purpleheart sight window which was repaired by bowdoc on the Restoration 101 thread.

I have only named two bows in my life. The first was the first bow I had with snakeskin on the limbs.....it was named the Venom Stick.

The second (which is my current go-to bow) is named the Black Plague. The snakeskin bow I mentioned above was the first "fancy" bow I have ever bought. I learned pretty quick that I am too hard on bows to own fancied up ones. After having it a while i ordered this bow plain, solid riser with black glass imbs. I was at the bowyers house testing it after he called me and told me to come try the grip before he put the finish on it. While standing there another customer came up to try out some of his bows. He introduced the guy to me and says " This is Bisch, he has killed more critters with my bows than the Black Plague!". I knew instantly what the name of my new bow was.

Here is a pic of the Black Plague. It is a Sarrels Blueridge Takedown longbow 50#@ 29.5"

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels their bows have attributes worthy of giving a name to.......my girlfriend thinks I'm a dork, I know she's just jealous  :)

I name my bows after I have shot them and have gotten to know them. "Medusa"- a 7 Lakes Longbow w/ copperhead skins, "Jezebel"- an all black Big River, "Hadassah"- a Big River as  beautiful as Jezebel is dark, "Bone"- a Cold Mountain longbow w/ a beautiful bone riser overlay and bone tips, and "Orange Crush"- my 1st "custom" bow, an Osage bow aptly named by the bowyer, and recently given a facelift by Snakewood.
Bows, as with old bikes, have discintive personalties, therefore, they must have names. At least I haven't named my arrows...yet.

I was kinda' waitin' 'til I kill my first trad deer with it ...

Of course, what I call the bow probably isn't nearly as important as what the bow calls me!  (I can't hear it . . but I KNOW it's talkin' smack when I'm not lookin'...)    :bigsmyl:

I name all my weapons and instruments, just something I've done since I was introduced to both long ago.

My Ben Pearson Rogue is named "Jezebelle" because she lures me away from my home all too often.

My SoMo Red Warrior is just simply named "Red" due to the way the grain perked up with staining showing the character and richness of the oak she is made of.

I also have a Bear Whitetail II compound, ca. 1989, that I named "Delilah" because she is a curvy, yet temperamental old girl. I am actually thinking of converting her to a recurve, maybe then she'll be less moody.   :)

My Randy Morin Banshee longbow has been deemed Wilma. Sense I went from 66 pounds to 53 pounds sense my shoulders could take the 66 any more.

My brother and his buddy Steve made my longbow for me and they named it Hathcock after the deadly  Marine sniper Carlos Hathcock.
