No matter what the weather....
« on: January 22, 2013, 07:28:00 PM »
No matter what the weather, i still gotta have my daily fix of stretching the string. When i got home it was 14 deg. and 15 mph winds but i still couldnt make myself stay inside till i shot a few arrows.
Are there others out there with the same addiction for shooting?   :banghead:

You bet cha Mole, every day I can no matter what the weather. I think it was only about 12 degree when I was shooting today. Had to try some blunt tip arrows I just put together. They shot real welland are quite the slammers.

Shot some before work this morning. About 15 deg. in the barn, but better than outside.

I can get 13 yards in my basement.  I get the same distance in my driveway.  The only difference is, I have to sit in my basement.  The nice thing is, it doesnt matter weather or tie of day.

I like to shoot at least every day. But, I don't shoot outside in high winds or other inclement weather. I'm pretty much a fair-weather archer when I can. I shoot inside during the winter once I quit hunting for the season.

I don't miss many days shooting. Mostly outside, but sometimes, the wind is just too much, so I shoot in the garage.

We had a couple week stretch of -20 temps at night in December. It warmed up to -12 during the day, so I was able to get out and shoot about 10 mins. at a time before my fingers started getting cold. The cheap jersy gloves worked well. My bow hand stayed warm. It was my string fingers that got cold first.

yeah, last week I shot in insulated bibs and whatnot with the temps in the teens, yesterday it was 67 and I forced myself to go again:) supposed to be that warm again today, guess I might have to put on the shorts and go.

Can't say I make it out every day,  during parts of the year its pitch black when I leave for work and when I return. That definitely cuts into my shooting.  My wife is like Mountain Lion's,  she just rolls her eyes when I go out the door, but it is with affection because I think in a way she believes that flinging those arrows makes me a better husband and dad. I'm calm and content when I return from shooting, happy with the simple things in life.  Sometimes when she drives in the driveway and I'm out shooting, she will stop short of the garage and sit back and watch me in the side yard. Often times I don't realize she is there, and then I'll look over and see her there just smiling.  "What you smiling at" - "I like watching you shoot, I can tell it makes you happy"  No doubt about that.

I shoot 3-5 days a week this time of year. The temp really doesn't dictate when I shoot--schedules do.

About the same for me. Today reached a high of -10F, fortunately sunny, with a slight breeze... shot a few sets at the hay bales, and got a few stumpin' shots in. Snowbanks are loads of fun with Judo's!

Yesterday....19 degrees, and my son and I are out right after school, and wouldn't have missed it for the world. Just to top it off our last target was a 4" end of a fallen branch suspended about 4ft. off the ground....I shot just over, my 10 year old son nailed it....from 25 yards! Yup, he is still talkin about it.
