4 blades whistling to target....
« on: January 26, 2013, 02:27:00 PM »
I bought some Zwickey Delta 4 blade broadheads and they are whistling all the way to the target.  How do I prevent them from whistling. Thanks

Squeeze lemon juice on them. They will pucker up so they can't whistle. Sorry, couldn't help myself! d;^)

Are they vented broadheads? If so round the inside edges of the vents with a file or emory cloth.

deltas aren't vented.

I would suspect either the head isn't on straight, your arrows aren't flying straight or (and most likely I'd think) you don't have the "hole" in the ferrule from the punched out bleeders filled with glue/taper.

I have used cotton from a cotton ball.

I'd just use whatever you used to mount the heads.
Normally with those heads I just put a lot of glue on the taper so it squeezes out the hole. Then while it's still wet, or hot if using hot melt, use your finger to smooth it over. Nothing to it.

Plus, I like the thought of having the ferrule completely filled. That way the arrow doesn't move forward as easily and break the bond if you hit a hard surface.

I wouldn't use caulk as most glues won't stick to it if you want to remount the heads on another arrow. Plus it just complicates things.

Yep, fill the hole. Get some long taper adapters and you are good to go.

This!  If your adapters are not long enough, fill it with hot melt.

The Sweetlands by Zwickey are the best match for the Zwickey heads.  They are longer.

A little hot melt in the gap with the other adapters works fine too.
