carbon arrows are really amazing things..

I switched to carbons for last hunting season.
Wanted to try a 10 gpp arrow out of a 45# bow.

Ended up with some 500 spine full length beman bowhunters and 175 grain VPA-3's.

Got my first trad deer with that setup this last season too. At 18yds the arrow went in to the feathers.

I paper tested that setup and had them punching perfect holes.

Since the season is over I decided to play around with some heavier tips. I wanted to have some more confidence with penetration.

I tried some 300 grain tips. Groups tightened up, target wobbled more, but the traj is a bit more rainbow like.

What is amazing to me is when paper testing I'm still poking great holes!

A change like that would've had me looking for higher spined wood arrows for sure.

I know a cut to center bow will let you get away with more but this I found to be quite a surprise.

I heard more stories about carbon not being sensitive for changing frontload. That might be the case with fletched shafts. However,when bareshafting from 25 yards and above, I see clear differences with changes from 20 grains.

Same here. I can shoot great diff. in pt. weights with no diff. in pt of impact. Never paper tuned, using  bare shaft testing. G-T 55/75
