Tent stoves....take the time to learn them
« on: January 27, 2013, 04:43:00 PM »
Being new to tent stoves, ive been playing with mine in the back yard, learning how to use it to my best advantage. Learning the best size wood and proper drafting will make your tent stove experience a lot more enjoyable as well as a lot safer.
Soo long cold nights......this little guy will make those foul weather hunts a little more comfy.   [/IMG]     [/IMG]

What are the two tubes on the top for?  Never seen anything like that before.  Are they for water?

Pete, the entire top is a cooking grate which folds into a carrying handle like a suit case, they are support for the grates, and i believe more surface area to radiate heat once they get hot.

Slick looking set up there, one of these days I'll have a canvas wall tent with a stove like that. What size tent is that one for and how big is it?

Damon, this is the 30yr plus old Baker lodge that i will be using it in. It is 9 x 12 with the pipe hole out the side under the small flap in pic.
With the stove, it will house 2 hunters with gear very nicely.   [/IMG]

My buddy has a stove like that.  You can pop a couple of taters in those tubes and bake 'em  to go with your dinner.

Nice set-up! I've been thinking about setting up a small stove like that in my boat for next winter.

Hey...that looks like the exact stove I have, except for the chimney sections.  Did you create a custom chimney, and if so, what materials did you use?

The stove I have, which appears identical in everyway, is a no-name import from 'the' auction site.  It was less than $100 shipped.

Looks serious to me, sorta like an F-16 with a full compliment of ordnance perch up under the wings!  Love the smell of woodsmoke, so long as it's not mixed with the smell of canvas burning!

This is a"Two-dog" stove. Its the best tent stove I've ever used. I use it in my 10'x 15' wall tent and its plenty of heat even up here in BC.You can get them bigger, 3-dog,4-dog etc.I got the small one because its so easy to load in and out of the boat or on an ATV. #38 all up.
