Misbehaving at K'zoo
« on: January 27, 2013, 06:18:00 PM »
I was VERY, VERY bad at the expo yesterday. Went to pick up some Ace blunts, a wool ear warmer from Two Tracks (and show Chuck the knife I got from Lin Rhea) and then just enjoy looking and touching. That looking can get you into serious trouble, though.

RER Vital, 62" 45#. Cocobolo and walnut riser, walnut limb veneers.

Spent some time talking to Kevin from RER this afternoon. Had a real hard time leaving without the 46@28 Leopard Wood beauty. That must be why he had a few empty spaces on the bow rack. Congrats, that one is a dandy!

Hi Jason. I saw you trying one out too. Must be you have more will power than I.

Actually it wasn't completely an impulse buy. I sold my right-hand Chad Holm River Runner and my RER-XR, so spent quite a bit of time at both booths. A Holm Made Osprey was REALLY whispering in my ear - light as a feather and really shot well for me. I do have a couple of 1-piece r/d longbows still and really wanted to put a 3-piece back on the rack, so the final nod went to the RER. There will probably be an Osprey at some point in the future, though.

Good thing I don't live close enough to go.  At least you prepared.  It is good to know both your strengths and weaknesses.

I have extra room if you need to stay over, just bring the bow so I can try it out. After all it is my specs....lol! I have to get out to that shin-dig sometime!!

see: The Vital has a lot more mass than the XR. The riser and the limbs are all wider, although the limbs are really trapped.

maineac: still looking for my strengths. Have my weaknesses pretty well identified, though.

Ron, I don't think you're going to go wrong with an RER I really liked how it shot as well as the Osprey that Chad makes, there's just so many bows to try and so little time to shoot them.

I would say that one of your weaknesses is cocobolo and walnut!   :)

That is a nice looking bow. Congrats
