Thanks for refreshing my mind....I was there in 2011 and really loved the Mt. Zirkel area. I also came away elk-less but had a fantastic adventure, camping at 9500 feet, hail storms, and Jalapeno poppers wrapped in bacon over an open fire. Cyclic-Rivers [Charlie] almost killed me with those....great photos!!

I can smell the spruce and campfire.  Thanks.

Nice pictures Brian, they sure make me homesick for the mountains! We are in Florida for a few months. It is a good place to be in the winter but the mountains are where my heart is.

Great pix! Bring back fond memories. Two years ago I hunted near the Zirkel Wilderness Area with a group of trad archers. We were east of Gould in the state forest... saw some elk but no shots. This year, I'm going into the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness on horseback from near Walden with an outfitter for the first week of the season. Hope to get great pix like you took and maybe a chance at an elk. Tom

I was there as Ron said 2 years ago.  What a great place, thanks for rekindling the memory.

Hopefully, we'll get drawn for 2014!  I was able to go in 2011 with my son Jay (JJB) and two of his buddies in 2011 and had the time of my life.  Even had a couple of close encounters.  What a great experience!  Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures!

Thank for the comments.  I have these pics looping as my wallpaper background on my computer.  I get to relive that trip every day.  Great memories.

We were north of Walden around Camp Creek for a week then west a bit to Damfino Creek for another week.

I took all of these shots with my iPhone.  Hard to believe how well they turned out.

Yep, it is hard for me to pass up a chance at taking a photo of that bow whenever a good background pops up.  And there were plenty of them out there.

Looks great.  Why would anyone want to ruin a good elk hunt by killing one.  That's a hell of a lot of work!

It's almost St. Jude auction time, let's get together on another pig hunt bidding spree...

Great pics, thanks for sharing your journey.
