Making friends through Tradgang and Trad bowhunting
« on: January 29, 2013, 09:22:00 PM »
It was a slow day at work today, so I had a lot of time to think about some of the friends that I've made and people that I've met since joining this site. I went on Bear Quest 6 this last year and it was one of the best group of guys that I've ever shared a hunting camp with.  I made a few really good friends that week.  Also on a fall bear hunt at Squapan Mt, I shared a camp with another great group of guys.

I've become friends with a few of the people that I've sold and bought bows to.

I've read and heard about the friendship that the Wensels had with Paul Schafer and Bart Schleyer.  Its a brotherly friendship, and even more.

Lets hear about the good friends that you've made.

traditional archery has given me the opportunity to meet some very top-notch people and forge some unshakable friendships. In fact, and this may sound odd, but i've got friends that i talk to on a weekly basis- sometimes more often, and i've never even met them in person. I hope to meet each and every one of them one of these days.

It is really great to chat with folks from all over the country as well as from a number of foreign lands. Most of us will probably never meet in person, but it is still fun to share each others adventures. I'm still waiting for a suitable tale to tell.

I've got to know and meet some pretty great guys through this site that I talk with and hunt with. I have yet to experience a shady deal on the classifieds.

That being said I've also experienced some members I wouldnt waste half a thought on; just goes to help prove theres some in every crowd.

Nothing like having some hunting buds to spend time with. Here's my buddy Drew from CO by way of OH, myself, from MI, and another converted native from CO, Brando. We've had some good times with bows. I envy you guys with the major adventures scratched off the list, although I'm looking forward to some.

I met one of my best friends on Trad Gang. Funny thing is he only lives 10 miles away. I would have never met him if not for Trad Gang.

I made some vey good friends here on TG. Some even invited me to come over for hunting. But that is a bit an expensive trip all the way from The Netherlands.

I became friends with some suppliers and sponsors.

And ofcourse I met Hubi on Tradgang. He lives in Germany. We met several times already and we had some great shoots and great fun. We became very good friends.

We are like brothers   :)

Cool thread, pretty much a newbie here, but have been shooting traditional for close to 10 years now, and have had no regrets.
Too many bows to list, and so many more I want to try!  Keep the wind in your face, and your broadheads sharp.

I loved our hunt at Squapan Mt. hunt Sean!

Every time you get with other Trad buddies, you are almost guaranteed to have an endearing time & forge some new life-long friendships.  At least, that's what I've found time-and-time again on many hunts to many different places & with many different Traditional archery friends.

That's why I look forward to new adventures!  It's never just about the kill, the entire hunt unfolds like a great book & every page is to be appreciated & treasured for a lifetime..

I have enjoyed meeting a number of people on Tradgang and buying a few items here has also been a good experience.

However the most interesting communication was when one day I recognized a boyhood friend from the early 1960's posting here.  We had lost track of each other so it was a treat when I saw Kendall Techau posting here.  He reminded me that my dad got both of us interested in bow hunting by taking us along on a short deer hunt one afternoon. We were probably about 9 or ten years old.
Fifty years later we reconnect because of our passion for traditional bow hunting. Never would have happened without Tradgang.

As I went through chemo and stem cell transplant there were a couple of tradgangers who I had never met that provided kind and encouraging words.  Encouragement that let me know I would get out of that bed and be in the woods shooting again.
