Liberty "Classic" follow up.

As I reported before, I was blessed with the opportunity to test drive Allen Boice's new Liberty "Classic" longbow.(stringfollow)

I knew I was impressed as were my buddies Cobweb and Jefferson but wanted give some others a chance to shoot it.

This weekend was our annual United Bowhunters of Missouri Festival so I showed up with the "Classic" in tow.

Comments were 99.9% in the positive from the "Classic" shooters.

Troy of Black Widow..."Dead in the hand and the game should be dead as well as the point-ability is great!"

Don(bowyer) from Tall Timbers archery.."Dead in the hand and super quiet".

Butch, Bruce and all of the other UBM members that shot it had nothing but praise for the "Classic".

As I told someone who told me how much they loved the look of the "Classic"... "if you like the looks then you're gonna love how it shoots!"

I had the pleasure of shooting this bow today as well.  Easy on the eyes and agree it's dead in the hand and shoots very nicely.  

The long riser and short working limbs make it sneaky fast too.  

First longbow I've shot in probably 6 or 7 years. It's a winner!!!!!

It's a very nice bow. It's quite like a longbow should be. It's fit and finish is as good as you could want. I felt no hand shock at all. It shoots just where you look. I think that someone wanting to try a D bow would be very pleased with this bow. Allen does make a very good bow.

That Classic is a sweet bow, Mudd.  I'd not seen your videos before, thanks for sharing!

And it just goes to show, us trad archers CAN shoot a bow and chew gum at the same time!

I shot the first arrow out of it today, it's ready to go.  Those smaller tips you requested and the fact that I added an additional .020 thickness to the core wood seems to have made it even more dead in the hand than it already was.  The black on black is really appealing.  My wife's quote, "I really like this stealthy look."  Are you back home yet, give me a call and let me know if you want it shipped or would prefer to pick it up when we get together sometime!

PS:  I had to add some color so I did the string in black and white, but can change it if you want me to.

Perfect. I will call on Monday. Man that was fast!!! oh boy oh boy!! I spent two and a half hours in the desert with the 54# English Elite yesterday.  It was one of those could hardly miss days with the gift of a beautiful sunset against the Cascade Mtns. and a walk back to the truck after dark.

Time for an update. I got my Classic black beauty after a trip to Maryland and New Jersey. I came home sick and really wasn't able to give the proper attention a new bow normally gets until the the 16th of this month. So she's 68" 52# @27 ebony riser with petite (smaller than Allen normally puts on his bows) tip over lays of ebony and the same on the riser, black glass limbs except for the exposed carmelized bamboo on the sides of the limbs. The lams add a nice almost dark yew color down the edges of the limbs and the black and white string offers another nice contrast. Dual purpose look, a night on the town or stealthy trip to the woods. Workmanship is "Classic" Allen Boice, impecable. With the straight grip you really notice the forward handle shape although this is not a full reverse handle but it does put your hand very close to the same plane as the limb and riser so it points like an extension of your arm. I really like the string follow which with the grip make this an enjoyable and easy bow to shoot well. I had Linda Brackenbury twist up a couple of B50 and Astro Flight strings I'm in the process of testing them. Bow likes 2016 28-29 BOP with 200gr up front 545-550 total wght. Working on some Surewoods. 6-5/8 brace height. The extra weight of the ebony, string follow and petite tips makes this bow very pleasant and after 3 hours stumping I didn't feel like I had been to a deep massage therapist. Named the bow Midnight Mary after the 60's song of the same name.
Thanks so much Allen, for another great bow the best I've owned and I've spent some $ over the years.
