What Quiver for Black Widow?
« on: February 10, 2013, 10:58:00 AM »
Well it's crunch time and I just found out my PMAX will be done next week.  I ordered the bow with no inserts and now am questioning my decision.  I have been looking at the side mount quivers from Selway and Thunderhorn.  What do you like best and why?  Of course pictures always help.
Thanks

Thunderhorn. If you send them a pic of your bow or tell them what woods  it is they will make one to match it for you.   I have them on all my bows you will not be dissapointed!

If you give them a call tomorrow, there may still be time for them to put those quiver bushings in.

I've got two MA's here - one with a side mount Selway and one with a side mount Thunderhorn. Both are really nice. Can't say I have a preference for one over the other. Both solid and quiet.

I like the great northern quick release, which is light and sturdy and goes on and off in a heartbeat. Just remember that in order to balance on a Widow (limb bolts back of handle) you need a LH quiver for a RH bow and vice vera.

I like them to match.  They are all good quivers but why not have a good one that complements your bow.

I like both the thunderhorn and the Great Northern.  I have the GN on my PCH II, and the Thunderhorn Small Frye on my KB X.  I've used a selway, and BWs old BW 5/7 quiver, but I prefer the above 2.   Give them a call, they may be able to put the side mounts on for you.

Toby said it will be the last thing they do so I have until Wednesday of this week.  Just scares me to think of them drilling into the side of my bow.

One more thing to keep in mind. You could use a limb bolt thunderhorn on the longer risered pma.  The problem I have with annewakee and the smaller thunderhorn is broadhead clearance inside the quiver I shoot BIG heads and a bigger hooded quiver is a must for battle axe, treesharks and big Jim big 3s.

Anybody have any problems with the limb bolt quivers?  How do they look with antler knobs?

Plus my arrows are going to be 31 1/2" or 32" long.  I noticed the side mount would make for a longer spacing between the hood and gripper...is that what I want longer for less noise?

greater spacing between hood and grippers is definitely a good thing with full length arrows.

Widowdoublelung, those bow/quiver combinations are Awesome!!!!

I have the thunderhorn limb bolt quiver and the antler knobs on my PMAX. My arrows are 31"BOP. It looks good and works great.

I am going through the same thing right now.Picked up a pchx with no side inserts at kalamazoo, and have been searching for the right quiver for that bow. Been looking at kanati, thunderhorn, and selway. With the shorter riser of the pch i wonder if a limbolt quiver would be a little on the short side? Have really been looking hard at the kanati dual arc. My arrows are 30.5".

I like the screw ins. The limb strap ons aren't bad but when now starts to buzz you will know it has moved up the limb.
