I know that Ryan Gill, aka "twistedlimbs" has made some selfbows made out of white oak, red oak, and I believe, live oak.  I've heard of red and white being used quite often and hunted with a red oak bow myself on a hunt in 2009.  Pretty good shooting bow.

All I know is that Red Oak is the number one suggestion for building a board bow for a beginer by anyone I have ever seen.

So to me, if you can fasshion a 40-50# bow out of a standard board from lowes or homedepot, I see and know of no reason one could not incorporate it into any other bow build.

Just my opinion, and ya'll know what them's like  :D

If someone knows more, please share

I have a Black Widow PCH with red oak and white oak in the riser and persimmon limb veneers.  Its named PersimmonOak.
I wanted a bow with woods that I killed most of my deer around. Looks pretty good I think.

I'd like to see more of the BW Rod!  Very unique I'd think.  Have any pictures of the limbs?

Here are a couple that I just finished up.  Curly Oak and Walnut.  One of them is going to be a donated bow for the Wisconsin Traditional Archers Banquet, have not decided which...

Jerry,

Thought you might get a kick out of those bows.  The one on the right has Curly Ash veneers and the left Bolivian RW.
I'm thinking the one on the right will be the donated bow, all Wisconsin wood, just like you wanted!

Looking forward to seeing tou this weekend.
