PIG-GIG... Lets do this!! Story P.2
« on: February 12, 2013, 11:32:00 PM »
Just a few days away. I'm super excited as I always am about this awesome time. I'm surprised I haven't seen any posts about those who are ready to go. Either way. Should be an awesome time. Last trip. Snow dumped on us, it was kind of a bummer as we only got to hunt about 2 days. So pray for good weather. For those of you I've hunted with before, I'm excited to see you and hunt with you again! And for those of you I haven't hunted with. I'm excited to meet you and make some new friends!  It will be a blast. And. As I'm driving. If anyone needs anything. Please let me know.

Good luck. Me and a couple of other TG guys where at the Spike Box last week (not on the Pig Gig list this year though) and had great weather and lots of pigs. Everyone had shots and four hogs killed. There seemed to be a fair number of piglets this year in the sounders which shows that the drought hasn't had that much affect on the hogs. You should have good hunting at Lambs Head. Maybe Dirty Bird will see this thread and post a pic or two.

You probably aren't hearing much chatter this year because there is only one hunt rather than the normal 4-5, so only a handful of guys are going.  Due to various issues, the twins were only able to book one hunt for this year.

I'm about ready to go. Just have to load my stuff.
Right now they are predicting good weather all week. Cool mornings and low to mid 60s during the day. And of course the warm weather is compliments of some breezy winds from the south. No rain in sight.
I'm ready for it.

RANDY, got your text when I woke up 4:20am. Didn't make sense till I saw the time stamp on my initial post 11:32 is not correct. I posted about 8:30 and went right to sleep my "boss" can attest to that one. Maybe the TG server was updating?!
I don't make "excuses" to miss 3D and hang out with my boy!

CURT,, yes was a great memorable time for sure. You will be missed. And now that Cade is well experienced in shootin' stuff, you'll have to make this trip with him again in the future for sure. We are heading to Lambs Head. Well have to find another nice antler or something of the like to have everyone sign for a st. Jude's auction item.
PV you will be missed, and I have no excuse to bring cinnamon rolls as you would be the one requesting them!  And yes down river from the stone house was one of my favorite spots... What a cool place.
BRITT, the pig gig is a hunt that the Wensel brothers put on in TX. you can get more info on their website.
TERRY, As always ill be taking plenty of pics, and will be bringing my own personal photographer as well. Any my new sony action cam for point of view hunting!! And I'm anticipating lots of good stories.

Sure hope the weather holds like it is now. I live less than an hour from Lambs Head. It's 60 degrees and almost dead calm.
By the way, if anybody needs anything I can throw it in. I'm bringing a few extra bags of corn. Don't want the piggies to go hungry.

Hey Matty. Yeah let’s do this I’ll see you there!   :jumper:    :jumper:

I just came in from doing a trial fit of the gear into the truck. I’m bringing all kinds of bait with me. I have:

50# of crushed sour corn that has been fermenting for two weeks. It’s been in a 20 gal +- barrel, wrapped in an electric blanket that is wrapped with a water heater blanket. The electric blanket has been on high for the whole two weeks. HA! This stuff has a strong alcohol smell to it!

5 gallons of sour milk that has been fermenting since Saturday, It is mixture of 8 oz. of vinegar to one gallon of milk and it has been sitting in the sun every day. It’s starting to get ripe!

Almost 5 gallons of kitchen scraps

Approximately 23 gallons on used fryer oil

3 one gallon cans half full of bacon grease (what a sick SOB I am trying to feed pigs remnants of their brethren.

And of coarse I’ll have some dry corn also.

I talked with Thomas Burns and he will be there tomorrow night or Saturday morning. He said the ranch hands are telling him there has been a lot a pig activity. I’ll be hunting the Culver Pasture. I'll see you there. Have a safe trip.

"""3 one gallon cans half full of bacon grease (what a sick SOB I am trying to feed pigs remnants of their brethren. """"

Ok even if I'm NOT doing the math right in my head. That's 24 lbs of bacon grease THAT'S JUST THE GREASE! That's 2 lbs of grease a month. Lets assume that a 1 lb Pack of bacon yields 8 fl oz of grease that's 1 lb of bacon a week to make 2 lb of grease a month. So you mean to tell me, you eat 52 lbs of bacon a year after each pig gig to start saving for the following year!! THEY SAY YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT.
