Hybrid longbows around $300-400?
« on: February 14, 2013, 05:15:00 PM »
Hi all,

So I'm looking to test the longbow waters. I have a top notch 54# at 28 recurve which I will keep for my hunting etc. But recently I've developed an appreciation for r/d longbows. I don't want to spend another nine hundred bucks on one but I don't really want to get a mass produced. I pull 29.5 but I like the 60inch length and for sure I want a chunky handle was thinking 40 pounds or so at 28 so about 44 at my draw just to keep in shape.

Soooooo, I was wondering if there is mug out there at that price? There seems to be a tonne of longbow shooters on here. How will it compare to my recurve... Oh and I shoot a high wrist grip, is that going to cause me headaches?

Omega longbows.  You can get a u finish for less then all that or a complete for like $300 I believe.  These bows are all performance and have a pretty big fallowing on archerytalk. Love mine and the bowyer kegan is just great to deal with.

I'm going to 3rd Don Dow.  I've had one in the past and just ordered another.  At $335 it's probably one of the best values out there.  Plus, very quick turn around.

Probably should have mentioned I'm a lefty (well left eyed anyway) I've seen a few incredible deals pop up on the classifieds but they all seem to be on the wrong side! I checked out don Dow and they looked pretty nice indeed...

Omega and Dow both great bows.  Don't lose heart on the classifieds, I'm a lefty and I love the classifieds.  Our bows are harder to sell and there arent as many choices, but sometimes you can get a way better deal on a bow than if it was a righty for those very reasons.  I have a couple bows you'd go cross eyed if I told you what I paid for them vs. new cause they're lefties.  Lefties rule!

I've always had trouble with longbow grips.  I am still looking for a longbow that I shoot well.  Had a dauntless that I loved but just couldn't stop fighting the low grip.  Man it was an awesome bow. Fast, quiet, dead in the hand, and weighed nothing.
If your shooting stinks, work with a Form master.  It'll bring back your A game.

Go to the classifieds, you will get the best value for your buck there.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

No website, but you can search Powwow to see pictures and read more about them. The vision is his mild R/D bow. I have a 66" 52# @ 28" bow.  It's a nice bow.
