Most of the long time broadheads are perfectly capable of handling anything you intend to shoot, some will even take on a concrete wall.

Watch out for those high capacity quivers though, we don't want to start any adverse talk on the hill.

I haven't had a chance to kill anything with my trad setup yet, but I am sold on VPA heads. SGT for small game, 3 blade for turkey whitetail muleys antelopes and pretty much everything else. I did buy their 2 blade heads just to try, and I am confident that an elk, moose and someday a buffalo will fall from those heads coming from my Tall Tines    :archer2:   I will have a couple pics of turkeys once season starts! May also try out some yote hunting tomorrow morning!

Am confident there are numerous BH's that would be more than adequate.

Will likely be using 300 gn VPA Terminators when hunting reds in March 2014. May opt to utilize 290 gn Battle Axes. One clear advantage in choosing the Battle Axe, IMO, and per my own set-up, would be if I were hunting turkeys.

Magnus Stinger with bleeders has worked great for bear, deer, and squirrels so far.

Glad to see the responses so far. I was mostly curious because I have heard some say 3 blade heads for everything but hogs, some use them for everything and others only use the 2 blade heads.

I'd use three blades in a flash if I shot heavy weight bows but I don't and want two holes if possible. So far the game I've taken had very large wound channels and a hole in both sides with a two blade head. I don't feel I need to change....  but again if I shot heavy bows I'd give 3 blades a try............

I may give them a real try this coming year myself. I am shooting a 56#@28 inch bow, but I am pulling 29.5. I guess I am around 60#.

2" Simmons Treeshark.  Only thing I dislike is that they're not 3".

I checked the Simmons website and those things are ridiculous with holes they make.  :scared:

Simmon's heads for me I have shot over a hundred animals with them they work great I have the utmost confidence in them. Everyone that I have persuaded to use them feels the same way. Once you try them it is hard to let go and try something else. I have shot several other heads and there is something about the Simmon's keeps me using them.LCH

I currently use a Steelforce 225 grain that I purchased while setting up for ean elk hunt. I ca see no reason why this would not be perfect for everything. In fact it made very quick work of mr deer this year.

VPA 3 blade no sense in using any other head for any North American big game with my set up.

Heads are just tools....

I pick the one that will do the best job for what I'm chasing...I have at least two different heads in my quiver anytime I'm in the woods unless its strictly just a deer hunt....then they are all Big Chops.

I think there's a ton of bh's that would be considered "good enough for anything".

But there are times when there's a "tool" better suited for the job.

I like and use VPA 3 blades almost exclusively now. For most of what I hunt, the biggest they make 1 1/4", is what is in my quiver.

But when big(shielded)hogs are a possibility, I'll have a slightly smaller version 3 blade, or the 2bl. Penetrators in my quiver as well.

A few years back it was 160 Snuffers, and Woodsmans in my quiver.

Now I prefer the high quality of the VPA's ....
