newbie arrow selection
« on: February 23, 2013, 01:43:00 PM »
Hello. New to TradGang and archery both.. looking for some advice on selecting an arrow for my setup.

Damon howatt hunter 42# @28 and 50-52#? @31

Looking for an affordable carbon arrow like the beman ics bowhunter for learning.. don't know if 400 or 500 spine is best.

Points, Fletch ect not selected yet either.. plan on using field points and either feather or 4" vanes.. Velcro rest.

Thanks,
Chris

Get with Big Jim, a sponsor here on the Gang and see if he has any 35-55 blems. They are superior to the Bowhunter shafts in strength and a hair cheaper! Try a variety of point weigths before cutting. You may decide to leave em full length. Best wishes. Kirk

Gold tip 3555 if your FOCs not too high would work I'd think - if you want a bit more point weight the 5575 might work - I've found that shooting 42-47# with 250 gn up front is pretty well tolerated by either spine - LAS has a cheaper version of the expedition hunter called archers choice that I've used with both vanes & feathers - the 3555 is a 500 spine & the 5575 a 400 spine I believe - M
