string tracker question
«
on:
February 24, 2013, 11:25:00 AM »
I found a couple of string trackers in my garage and thought I might play around with them to possibly use during turkey season. For you guys that use them, what do you use to attach the string to the arrow? I seem to remember having clips but of course I can't find those anymore. Anywhere that sells them or how do you make them.
Thanks for any help.

I use to tie them on thru one of the vented blade holes, that worked the best. You can wrap the string
between the broadhead and the arrow but if you have carefully spin tested your arrows like you are suppose to it will mess that up. Some put a little valcro behind the broadhead and wrap or tie the string to that.
How you fasten the tracker to the bow is most important thing.

CJ,
I use a small piece of the "hook" side of adhesive velcro...like I describe here....
http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=000094
I use this on wood and my carbons as well....
I know some just unscrew their bh's and wind the string under it and tighten it back up.
But in my testing I found it to create a weaker connection from the string getting pinched and sometimes threw off alignment.
Around the velcro is stronger for me.

I just wrap a couple of wraps of line around the threads on the head and then tighten it up. No problem at all with flight being affected. I wouldn't think that is any different than having it hanging any place else from the arrow.
