Show your checkered grips!
« on: February 27, 2013, 03:05:00 AM »
Encouraged by the Manitoba -thread I would like to ask you to show off your checkered/stippled or whatever grip. Please mention bow and the artist who did the carving/stippling

I will start: My Whippenstick Phoenix. Carving done by Ken Rohloff from Whippenstick (the first and last one)

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that string! [/i]

Joe,
I recently got a all Bocote Arroyo and it's some of the prettiest Bocote I've ever seen..I then saw a Rer Arroyo with Ziricote doing a search and it must of been yours cause it looked as good if not better ...This is one of my favorite wood choices and I believe you had the takedown with Olive Ash Burl limbs and that's why I had my Hoots recurve made with Ziricote and Olive Ash Burl...Coppied yours I think...You always have some of the prettiest bows... I love that RER Arroyo Ziricote above...

Keefer, I never had a Arroyo. I do own a LXR and the above Zircote riser is it; and your right my limb veneers are Olive Ash Burl.

Thanks for the compliments  :)

Thanks Joe,
When I first saw your riser I thought it was the Arroyo but now I see it's not...This was the bow you posted as to how I had asked Lee Hoots to try to match(He did a great job I might add)...If you look at my Hoots and your RER the woods are almost the same color tone...You have some really nice bows Joe and good taste I might add..

I took these photos a while back to show somebody the difference between the grips on a Dale Dye recurve and a Schafer Silvertip recurve.  Dye on the left and 'tip on the right in both photos.
