Denis, now that you mention it, I think you may have posted that up reviewing your bow or did I dream it?  Sounded like a familiar story!

I about wore out my browser flippin pages on Kirk's website back and forth tween riser styles, bow descriptions and then options pages to figure what I liked and what I could afford.

In the end, I teased I ran the neighborhood on trash day raiding recycle bins to get cans to turn in to pay for a few "options".

Truth is, for what I got, I think I stole that bow!

Thom,

Beautiful. This is a combo that Kirk has recommended based upon some of my input

What set-up on the limbs did you use?

Doc Nock - I know what you mean about flipping back and forth.  I think I have already sent Kirk at least 10 e-mails this weekend alone with questions from things I have read or seen on TG!

Just remember, Bob, the more emails, the less time to build bows! LOL

I told him what I like... and we debated a few suggestions of his...and then he showed me the wood for mine he thought I might like. He wasn't wrong!

There are so many I see that appeal strongly to me, but my own surely fills all my desires!

You've got time... he'll keep sending you pics of woods and then one day...walla...there it is- What you want and you'll KNOW it!

Weidman,

I learned on my choice, that there is NOT an unlimited supply of some of these beautiful grain woods...

Go crawl in a quiet closet, punch some numbers and then decide... next batch might not look the same...

Kirk had/has so many beautiful pieces, but when I saw that particular bocote block I got...I figured I'd better grab it... cause I've seen pretty bocote before, but nothing like THAT!

Luckily I had my down money already in, so when that popped up, it was a simple "YES!"

Good morning Bob,
Here is a picture of all the stuff that went into one of my limbs:

The two lams of yew and the clear glass back/belly do the real work. Zebra power wedges top and bottom in between the yew cores, then of course zebra veneers stained with amber for that more golden finish. Bloodwood tip overlays finish them up.

These limbs caused Kirk to have to do a whole lot of thinking, this bow is 60" and 63@32". He had to do a whole lot of planning on those wedges to get them to make the bow work in the right parts of the draw and release. Here is a pic from it's first draw back to 32"

BTW here she is with her sister bow that is bocote with a zebra fang

Bob,  What you are looking at with Thom's bow is basically a static tip long bow. What Thom is saying here about me doing some tweaking is that i shifted the working portion of the limb out a bit further than i normally do to get a better string angle, and lengthened it a wee bit more to accommodate his 32" draw.....

How many arrows did you say you have put through that bow this last year Thom ?  was it 30,000 ?

That limb design is very hard to beat because of it's versatility. i can build the same exact bow for a guy drawing 26" just using glass that will out perform most double carbon bows on the market.
No brag.... that's a fact.

But....This new static tip RC just took the lead in my line up. It should be interesting to see the test results after I've got another dozen or so built.

Odometer hit 20k in December. I've been down to 200 arrows a week due to winter leagues blocking me out 4 nights a week since New Years.

In a few weeks I'll have the range back to myself and I'll be back up to my normal rate of fire.

Needless to say, I'm getting my money's worth out of this bow!

Zradix,

Really like the lines on that one piece Sas!  I understand and appreciate the features of a 3-pc., but those one piece bows are just fantastic!
