A last minute Hog Hunt
« on: March 01, 2013, 10:27:00 PM »
Game Lands in NC only allow hog hunting when a coinciding game season is open. Private lands have no closed season on hogs. I visited a coastal game land here in NC on Weds hoping to loose an arrow at a hog. I saw a little sign, but no hogs. Small game season ended the 28th.

Here are a few pics. Recent rain had the swamp level up a bit.

I did bump a deer. A deer running thru a flooded swamp makes one heck of a noise.

While wading through a deeper section something swirled the water right behind me. I never saw it, but I then could not get alligator out of my mind. I went closer to the dry edge then.

Looks like fun Bud!  I'm envious of all you guys that live close to hogs.  Huntin' them critters is addictive.

I always like seeing other areas. Thanks for sharing!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Great pics. My first taste of hog hunting on the Hill Gang gathering has given me the bug BAD!

When I pulled into the game land I came upon four trucks of gun hunters. The hogs were already spooked, I believe.

Oh well. Maybe next time.
