What do you guys think about this short story?
« on: January 18, 2007, 09:52:00 PM »
As the sun rises the water swirls from the slow motion of my wooden paddle. I slowly move down the stream in my cedar strip canoe listening for any sign of wildlife. As I look down into the crystal water I see brook and rainbow trout swimming gracefully by the bow of the canoe. I hear soft slurping by the shores edge and I see a bull moose enjoying a cool refreshment. I can hear birds chirping in the trees and elk bugleing in the distance. Everything around me is so calming and relaxing that it is a sin to leave this very canoe on such a peaceful and elegant morning. The most joyous thing is drifting down the stream in my cedar strip canoe, knowing that the tree had to grow up and die to make this wonderful peace of nature that we now float in, and use as traditional transportation to and from our rustic log cabin. The end is near and as I try to soak up as much as I can, I still can't get enough of the sights and sounds of this beautiful graceful stream. I know someday I will grow weak and elderly and not be able to paddle my cedar strip canoe up and down this stream, but I know the stream will keep flowing for the rest of my days and hopefully for the rest of eternity.
