I may be interested also.  I'm on the MO side out in Lee's Summit.

I just posted an ad on Craigslist under sports asking if anyone had a couple of acres that they would be interest in letting a traditional archery club start a range on and even lease if needed. I will post if I hear anything. Also, maybe everyone that is interested could get together sometime in the near future.

Thanks Irish, I really hope we can get something  going. Shooting with other traditional people is great. Acouple of years ago I went to the big gathering at Denton Hill, Pa with my girls and it was a blast and the people were great. In the past I had been to a few compound shoots and the people were not a friendly. At Denton Hill I had people on the ranges handing me bows and arrows to try, that was great.

I'm in.  Just sent the e-mail.  Brian, how did the first day go?  I passed on a 6 and 8 this morning.  Didn't see a single doe.

KC, I only went out in the afternoon. Should have went in the morning since it was so cool out.  I had three turkeys come in. One gobbler and two jakes, but they wouldn't come closer than 50yds. I was only out 30min when they came in.  Then I had three coons come in.  The two young ones ran up a log beside me and were only arrows length away before I flinched at them.  If I would have been sitting in my chair they would have been on top of my head.LOL
Saw two small does walking out.

I just got off the phone with the Hillsdale Lake Park Manager. He is very interested in having a group of guys start a traditional archery range at the lake. The cost to lease an area is about $500 per year with a few other requirements. The club would be open to the public, but a visiter would have to pay $5 for a one day pass and would only be able to shoot at the range for one day, after that they would be required to join the club. He also was interested in having the range work with a new Hunter Safety Program on occation. He wa also interested in the club hosting shoots during the year. If you are truely interested, even if you have sent me your contact information before, please do so again. I need as many names as possible when I continue talks with the park manager. This could be a very nice range. We could even try to get grant money. Once I get more specifics from the park manager I would like for everyone to get together to discuss this more.

I'm still around and yes, I'm interested in a local club.  I tried to get something started over here north of KCMO at Platte Falls and we had 3 different get togethers but never really got organized.  Platte Falls CA is a pretty good place and already has an archery range and two walk through courses that need some grooming.  I know most Conservation Areas on the MO side would love to have a local club to help with upkeep of the ranges and to help promote archery.  I expect the Kansas side would be similar.

I'll keep an eye on this to see what it amounts to.
Dave

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

You can add my name to the list. I'm in Overland Park.

I'm still interested. When you talk to Park manager again tell him we will have a substantial investment in setting up the range both in work and time and see if he will waive the 500 the first year in return for the range. Also we can negotiate the yearly fee,as that is the first figure he through out.If you'd like to talk call me.Send a e-mail and I'll send my cell number.  Ben
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!

ks_stickbow

Guys Richard needs your real name, phone number, email address...either PM him your info or email him....He needs to organize a list.

you just tell me what you need. If you want me to go with you to meet with hillsdale guy just tell me when....it seems like I am profesional job interviewer lately. So all I do is go to the range and job interviews....you got my number and email...I am stoked!!!

jbb

Sent you an email with my contact info.  I only live a couple minutes from Hillsdale so it would be really nice if this goes through.
