T.D 3pc longbows ?
« on: March 08, 2013, 10:48:00 AM »
I know this is a hunting based forum but over here in the UK I can only hunt foam deer.
My question is about TD longbows. I currently shoot a Kota Nomad 3pc and love this little bow, but I am after a new one for 3D shooting in the recurve hunter class, so cut past centre would be good and performance is a must have too.. I am looking at getting a bow 62" 42# 27" .. what is everyone shooting ATM any info on 3pc TD's would be appreciated... A few pics would be nice also.. You may ask why not shoot recurve? I just like shooting longbow..

Cheers Mick

You should check out Bob Morrison's site. I would point you in the direction of an ILF riser, limbs of your choice.

Go to bpbows.com and look at Neil Jacobsen's  Carbon Hunter 3 piece take downs. These are state of the art carbon offerings. Neil was the Montana state 3D champion last year (that would be a huge accomplishment). He makes great equipment and is the finest guy out there. I have spent a world of money with him and he is honest and hardworking. You will not have a better experience anywhere.

Leon Stewart, Bob Lee, Zipper, Black Creek...all outstanding 3 piece longbows or recurves if you want a non-ILF bow, though Black Creek does make ILF risers.  For sheer speed a Zipper, for speed and great mass/stability Leon Stewart, also for great mass/stability/accuracy a Bob Lee, Black Creeks are a bit lighter weight in wood and also sensational.

I've got a hybrid long bow that i build that may fit the ticket for you. It's about as close to a recurve as you can get with long bow limbs. These are very flat shooting high performance bows too.

I have not shot a big foot, but have shot about all the others listed so far and more. A & H ACS would be my choice.  A Morrison ILF 17 & 19" risers have nice size site windows that would be nice for a more vertical bow style for 3D.

Pronghorn for me.  realize there are as many opinions as there are posters! Some bows just seem to fit your style better than others. Wish you were on this side of the pond so you could try them all out.

Check out the Hill Country Wildcat or Bobcat. Great shooting bows. I have one listed in the classifieds if you want to see some pics. I find I need to concentrate on one bow and like recurves. Oh, not really pitching my Wildcat to you, it's not to your specs and I would not want to ship over seas.
It's just that they are great shooting bows.
Also I had a Pronghorn once, really liked that bow too.
Good luck on your search.

Here is the EagleWing. It is built in either reverse mounted or top mount. They both have great shootability with edge going to the reverse mount and speed going to the top mount.

Thank's for the input chap's...Really appreciated.
I really like the look of the Habu but that's a hell of a wait. The Big foot is doing it for me..
The eaglewing is real eye candy too...

Thank's again for your input... I wish we had this kind of choice over here, it kills me with the amount of import duty I have to pay when I buy bows from over the pond..

Cheers Mick

I'll take eye-candy and thanks much. The last one like this was 191 fps 9gpp at 28 in.professionally tested with Hooter shooter using mech release. The top mount is faster though.
Oh and wait time, from down payment to finish is usually under four months.

Price? going up all the time.

God bless you all, Steve

Lots of good choices no doubt. Always best when you can shoot them and decide for yourself. One that hasn't been mentioned and my personal vote would go to the Firefly by Jim Jones. You can see some on the Braveherat Archery website. They're a sponsor here.
