Theres no place like home.
« on: March 11, 2013, 08:22:00 PM »
Maybe its just me, but no matter how many adventures I go on to new and different places, the familiar haunts of my youth and home are still my favorites. The patchwork quilt of   woodlots, small streams and small agricultural fields, that I know so well, have brought forth successes and failures for many yrs, but not one disappointment, no matter the quarry.
Sometimes the greatest and most fun adventures are those that are unplanned and just a stones throw away.
Sometimes "Theres no place like home".
What say you?    :coffee:

I agree home is where my heart always remains regardless of where I go.

Absolutely Paul. Nothing like the familiarity of the places I grew up hunting.

Same here.  Our farm has been in the family since around 1870, and I've had so many adventures out there that it will always be my favorite place.  It may not be the most game rich, or the most beautiful, but everywhere I go on the place has a memory permanently attached to it.

I've been all over the south east , midwest, southwest with my selfbow, and still love it the best in South Alabama, on the Gulf Coast.

Ken I beg to differ with you, Lower Alabama is GOD's COUNTRY!

I am blessed to live in prime whitetail habitat just feet from my back door (and front door).  Flocks of turkey.  Also cottontail rabbit and grey squirrel.

Life is good.

I grew up and have lived in the Finger Lakes region all my life. I'm with Stump, many, many, hunting and outdoor adventures in well known haunts.Deer, Turkey, small game..... nothing like knowing your hunting territory! I rather have mediocre hunting on land I know well, than excellent hunting on land I know nothing about!

Be careful coming west to hunt elk then...the mountains here are something else entirely. Even the wind worms its way into your good graces.
