Blew the dust off my Thunder Child! PICS ADDED
« on: March 12, 2013, 06:35:00 PM »
I hate to admit it, but I've kinda been ignoring my Thunder Child T/D as I have been shooting a couple of other bows     :(  .  Decided this evening after work that I was going to give her a work out.

Man, I have forgotten how sweet a bow this is and it can really shoot!  I shoot it as well as my 60 and 62" longbows and recurves.  Really likes those nose heavy, high FOC arrows!    :archer2:

This one is a custom 54" take-down, 55# @ 28", snakewood limbs with gabbon eboney (sp) riser (of course with a black beavertail grip)that the Big Guy built for me this past May.  In fact, it was my 50th birthday present that my wife bought me (luv that woman).  I really need to get some photos up if I can get P. Bucket working again for me!

Looks like it's going to stay strung up and rotate into the shooting line-up again!

I just recently tried imgur.com as rob d has suggested and its soo much easier than photobucket. Photobucket always seemed to crash my computer but imgur is fast and easy. Ive never seen any of big jims bows in person but hope he comes to KY tradfest.

Marc,

I'll pm you my phone number.

Thanks, jsh.  I'll have to try and see if easier to use than PB.

Jim is a stand up guy.  He was actually planning on building this bow for himself, but when I explained my situation (birthday present from wife - turning 50) he made the changes to suit my desires and treated me great!  Nothing but praise for Jim!

I've got a 56" Thinderchild that is 53#@27" (my draw).  Bocote and Hawaiian Koa.  Awesome bow and Big Jim was an absolute pleasure to deal with.
If there is something I need and he sells it, he gets my business.

Amen on that, brother.  I've bought feathers, field points and broadheads, blinds, etc. from the gentle giant.

I met Big Jim at the last ATAR and really liked the Buffalo bows. I wish I had tried the TC then.

Had my 54" TC on the market  but after shooting it the other day I decided to keep it, the more I shoot it the more I like it.     :bigsmyl:

I bought one of Jim's recurves and a buff a month ago.  Both are awesome. I have a rack of great bows but Jim's are probably the nicest. One spot left and I'm pretty sure a thunder child will be there. As soon as I find a TD 56" 48-53#

Bob,
I don't have the beaver tail on my TC handle.  I've been thinking about getting him to put one on it.  If you get a chance i'd like to look at yours sometime.
