Just today my bowstringer of 20+ years gave up the ghost. It's been so long since I've had to buy one that I have no idea what is available. I like to be able to use mine for both longbows and recurves, and I like them simple and durable.
Suggestions??? Pictures???

Thunderhorn Bow Mfg. makes the best all around stringer for me anyway.It will do both recurves and longbows.

I normally get mine from Black Widow their a little pricey because they always send a bow with it .......

Sounds like you wants omething with a pocket on both ends. I like the Webster. Has two different pockets on one end to accommodate all size limb tips. A&H archery sells them, among others. The nylon webbing is a little stiff to start, but softens with use.

Watch out on the Black Widow stringer. I've had one since '97 - its a good stringer but the side of the stringer you slide the string towards has a small pocket for a Widow's tips. I've had some difficulty with bows that have big tips. The Thunderhorn stringer works well as does the Selway stringer. Sorry no pictures but check out any of the trad suppliers websites.

Forgot to say - the Thunderhorn stringer and Selway stringer are almost identical. Big pocket for the limb tip and a rubber piece that goes on the limb of the tip (not the actual tip) you are trying to string. Makes it work for pretty much any bow regardless if longbow or recurve; small or big tips.

These are the three I have.

(from top to bottom)
1. Homemade is my favorite it keeps pressure off tips by looping over string on bottom limb notch and saddling the top limb. Made from rope I had and a rubber block.

2. I think is a BW style that goes over limb tips. You are welcome to have if you want. Just gonna collect dust here. Let me know.

3. Selway limb saver is my back up. Has pocket for bottom limb tip and small rubber block for top limb. You would need one for longbow and recurve both. Pocket is a little big and block is a little small.

Just got a Webster from Braveheart. Works on all my bows - recurves and longbows.
