Awesome story and hunt...still trying to get them to let us hunt them up here. These idiots are all about what caliber of rifle to use and so far won't let us hunt them with a bow.

Some videos would be great to present to them though

Paul - Jason tagged the head and skin.  They do get to keep it.  Took two of them to load it in the truck.

I didn't get the shot on video.  I get the group coming our way, got some nice shoots of the big bull.  When I saw Mike shooting I grabbed the camera and to turn toward him. got a great shot of my feet, the ground between us, and came back on scene with his bull heading out of the group.

Now I wouldn't say that me watching out for the buffalo coming my way had anything to do with my lack of concetration of getting Mike's shot but it might have had some influence on me    :)

Sorry it was a very nice shot.

Having a tree between me and the buffalo seemed important at the time     :biglaugh:

I was impressed with the penetration.  I had a ring side seat for the shot.  Saw the impact and the spray on the off side.  Made my jaw drop...oh yeah the video...opps sorry

Yep it all happened a lot faster then it took to type it.  We were on the ground moving in, the buffalo were coming fast, I saw the shot, took the shot and was nearly dragged into a truck in what seemed like seconds later.  Pretty surreal.

Happened so fast you did not get to go into stalk mode and get "buffalo small". Nice shooting Mike. Jason being "way back and way up" nearly spewed my morning coffee.

Looks like a whole lot more fun than going to the meat market. How much meat will you get from the bull? I hope to do the same kind of 'harvesting' in the next year or so. A pass through with a 48# bow is encouraging, since I will be using 55#, but those heavy arrows probably have a lot to do with getting all the way through that bull. Didn't hit any ribs, I'm guessing?

Nope I skillfully missed all bone on the shot.  LOL

I know the heavy arrow got everything it could outta the bow.  I actually made it up to shoot big pigs but the buffalo came first.

Great story and a good looking animal. A complete pass through on a buffalo says something about that Orion for sure. My next bow is not going to be a bow, but new recurve limbs for my Orion longbow.  :scared:  Great work Mike!! Can't wait to do some elk hunting with you in a couple of year??  :D

Mike, after meeting you at Denton this year, I know you were a big guy, but I was thinking that was an AWFUL small 3 YO bison, but I wasn't going to say it.  :)
Doesn't matter though. It's a great story, you made meat, and we are all jealous! Way to go!

Tony,

You could shave with the BH when I pulled it out of the ground.  Very sharp indeed.  I hit it a little on the fine diamond stone and it's ready to go again.
