If it shoots as good as it looks you should be very happy with it!

Thanks guys!  Tue Shawn, I can see that happening as this bow really does put the arrows where I am focusing without the struggle of some of my other bows... not sure why but I am not complaining!  B-Ed, that yew is beauty, huh.  I can wait to watch it darken with age... James told me the Chechen will darken to.  Anyhow, now I have a bow that will throw arrows heavy enough for elk.

I love it! The Vixen is my go to bow for sure. My Misty dawn wins in the beauty department with its yew veneers like you have.
The Vixen is one sweet American longbow and has all the great characteristics of the ALB and none of the bad qualities

I just got in a Vixen with figured maple limb veneers, bamboo core, and figured maple handle.  It is so smooth and quiet, not to mention very fast!  As simple as this bow is,  it is surprising in its performance.  If James gave up the other models and only made these he would be busy all year playing catch up.

JW,
Nice looking bow. You need to shoot wood arrows for your vixen. I can't tell by your photos but the shelf looks to be radius. Didn't his vixen come with a flat shelf?

Hello hawaiiarcher. I seen the bow your asking about and it looks to be radius in the photo but it is a straight cut shelf. How do you like your Vixen? I know it was a sweet looking bow when I stopped by Jame's and seen him working on it. It had some nice looking Curly Koa in the limbs. Did you taken any photo's of it yet. I'm sure people here on Trad Gang would love to see it.

My bow is a straight, flat-cut shelf.  Funny you should mention the wood arrows, H-Archer, I am going to make the leap into woodies because of the Vixen.  I think it would be really cool to AND the arrow weight would be significantly more than the carbon GT trads, which it shoots well.
Brian, what kind of arrows are you running through your Vixen?

Hey threearrows, I think I saw your bow in the shop! WOW. That maple is beauty!  Is it 54@28? Post a pic if you have one.

Jerry,
My primary arrows are CX 90s with 175gr point. But I also shoot 31" 2018s and 28" 50-55 western larch from kootenai river archery.

The latch arrows from Jason at Kootenai are like tanks and can take a beating. I plan on picking up another doz

Shame, shame, shame......lol

The temptations I face because of threads like these.

That plus I am sure that my keyboard suffers greatly as well since it doesn't operate at it's best when covered with drool...lol

Thanks for sharing!(I think)

God bless,Mudd

PS: I just had a vision of that same bow but with Myrtle as it's riser wood.

Myrtle in the Riser, hmmmmm nice. I will let James know that you like those combination of woods. It was just a few days ago him and I went to Windsors and he did buy some Myrtle. I'm sure there is a Myrtle riser is in the near future. Oh yea let the drooling begin, lol. Happy shooting.

Mudd,
All you need to do is go shoot with Shawn, and when he is not looking put a long stick and a couple rocks in his bow sock. You know Shawn can not tell the difference in a bow and a stick anyway.  LOL
Then you can have yourself  a nice Vixen!!!
