Just made some. I got raw bee's wax from a friend who keeps honey bees. Melted it on the stove and poured it through cheese cloth to get all the junk out. Mixed in a little vaseline and vegetable oil.Poured it into a medicine cup to cool. My daughter poured the rest into a heart shaped cupcake tin to make a candle for mom. :D

I like the old Bohning stuff for string maintenance. Some of the beeswax blends seem stickier and work nice for twisting up a flemish. I wonder what the string companies use one the string when they spool it up.

I made up enough to last me for 5 lifetimes.
A combination of bees wax, toilet seal wax, and a little pine pitch. Great stuff if I do say so myself.

i used two sticks of old Bohning for many years....now have some beeswax/stringmakers wax and been using it.
Always looking for something....I like them a little harder so they only get sticky if I warm them up by rubbing piece of leather up and down on string to work it in. Otherwise it is too sticky especially around where it sits on recurve limbs...I hate sound of sticky wax on the limb tips. LOL

I was going to make some string wax out of toilet seal wax and a little canning wax. I thought toilet seal was almost pure bees wax.....don't know but I think it really doesn't matter. If it keeps the string from fraying, that's all that matters. For that matter just bees wax would probably work. For now I just use stuff i got from 3R's.

I use a mixture of one pound of beeswax to one toilet seal ring - makes a great wax for string building and maintenance. Of course if you use those sizes of wax you have a supply you can probably leave some of to your grandchildren.

I use the 3 Rivers string wax. I think it's a mixture of beeswax and some other ingredients. Works just fine.

I make my own string maker's wax. If I didn't, I'd use the string maker's wax that 3 Rivers sells.
For string maintenance, BCY sells good stuff. Hard to beat what the manufacturer offers.

If you need the cups I once hit the jackpot at Micky D's when a worker accidently dropped about 100 0f those plastic ketchup containers on the floor...I asked if I cleaned them up if I could have them and she cleaned them up and gave me lids as well..It holds exactly 4 tsp. and just right for me when making my own strings...Like everyone else I used a 1 pound block of pure bee's wax and added a toilet wax ring or 2 without the plastic horn and seems to be the correct mixture according how soft you like your wax...Also if you can get the pine pitch I'm sure that would be even better mixed in...

Wax depends on string material. Bees wax formulas are fine for B50. The newer non stretch strings like 8125,D97, ultra cam etc. require a thinner silicone base wax that penetrates the bundles. The best product I have used so far is "string snot" this stuff will bring the colors back to life and seems to last pretty long even if you hunt in the rain.

I just love the sound of hi-tech terms.
I have been using a tube of "TEX-TITE" bow string wax for years. It is a Bohning product.
