Glad to be following this thread.   I am interested in a static in the future too.

Many of my questions have been answered in this thread.   Thanks to all that have contributed!

Best regards, Skychief.

Can anybody list most of the bowyers that are making statics please.

I see some first names here, but, don't know what manufacturer they are associated with.

Thanks, Skychief.

In no particular order, here are some of the bowyers:

Big Foot Bows - Kirk
Eagle Wing - Steve
Cari-Bow - Abe
Stalker Stickbows - South Cox
RER - Kevin
Dryad Bows - Mike

There are many more quality bowyers as well who produce quality static tips, but these are the ones that come to my mind this early in the AM     :coffee:      :)

Heres some gas on the fire guys, static limb verse super curve limb ?
IMO I would classify super curve Morrison Max 1, Dryad , Border Hex series.
Others listed above IMO are true static.
Which cast a arrow quicker and is more efficient ?
I have shot lots of bows through a chrono and I know which have shot the quickest for me.
The quest continues !

Now let's see who's brave enougth to add more lighter fluid to the fire and post your working limb forms against the static forms to show the difference of the curve... Any takers that want to share or is this asking too much like what is the ingrediants to make your secret "Barbeque sauce"?  Only share if you dare fella's

Maybe I should of named this title the "Static Fanatic's"  :jumper:

yeah, that's why I posted that pic. thought y'all would like to see the crazy string profile. and I wasn't even quite at full draw when the pic was taken. absolutely no stack or finger pinch at all.

I really, really like this little bow.

Saviour68, I just had a conversation with Sid at Borders on the hex series,
"not all hex limbs are the same.
The hex5 is more a semi working limb while the hex6 is more on the working side of the pendulum"

Borders have been the quickest I have had, not had a chance to shoot Dryad's or Morrison's, looking forward to Kirk's static.
shoot straight shoot often

katman I have shot Hex 6's side by side with Morrison Max-1s that were within a 1 pound difference between them. That extra pound of weight was on the Hex 6 favor and the Max 1 shot the same speed and I prefer the draw on the Max 1 better. That being said Kirk and several other bowyers have some very very strong contenders in there static design. I have not shot the Dryads yet but they look very good also, with very good reviews. That being said I will keep/spend my money on USA made products and that is not to take anything away from over sea's products.

That being said what would you guys think about a TradGang WTT, all bows tested on the same equipment at the same time under a controlled settings, no smoke or mirrors can hide the results. There may be some people eattin crow after the sun sets though. I think Kirk has the set up already for testing if someone could put it together. That being said I would bet that there will be a longbow near the top in the results. I would like to see these include production bows only that you or I can purchase from the bowyers, no hotrod bows that last 200 shots then blowup.

I would be in and it would be a stock bow. I would be willing to bet that the top five would be within margin of error of each other. I have a feeling that some of those that are really highly touted would be down the list and others that don't have much following at all would be at the top. It sure would be interesting and Kirk has the integrity and the equipment plus he could actually vidio every bow setup and shot so that there would be no bias or complaining going on. What would be most interesting to me would be who would actually be willing to do it. I think it would take some serious thought before you would put your reputation on the line. Like real faith in your product.

Now if we could add to the speed thing a quietness test and slo mo vidio of limb action on the shot things could get real interesting. Oh and quality of fit and finish while we are at it by a panel of qualified unbiased experts. HMMMMMM Oh well I have a feeling we better forget it lol.

Anyway,. Lord willing I would do it just for the opportunity to have another shot at Kirks SS. Haha

God bless you all, Steve

It would be interesting to see how many bowyers would actually be willing to play in that sandbox. Bet most would not cause the truth would be told. I think there are alot of over rated bows when it comes to the speed category. Compound bows have been head to head tested in many magazines.

Remember guys, speed does not kill, quiet really helps and stability really helps as it makes for a more accurate bow. It is still the hunter getting close and very littl to do with the bow. That said I would like to see a head to head test on the statics, like Border, Caribow, Bigfoot, RER  and and a couple oldies, I have a Bear Grizzly dogleg(1963) that has performed within a few FPS.of some of the ones mentioned. I would love to try one of Sixby's bows, but funds are short right now. I really like Bigfoots design as it is a bit different than a lot of the other statics out there. Shawn
