deltas out of a 45# recurve

this year i was think of shooting my 45# predator since i yet to get a deer with this bow i usally shoot a 58# silver fox or a 62# hawkeye with snuffers or battle axes since this bow is lighter was wandering if 2 blade deltas would be a good choice up front before i buy them i will probally ad some steal inserts up front to add some weight

I got a total pass-through at about 15yds with a 47# recurve I used to have. They ought to work fine.

Two blade Zwickey Delta's would be a great choice for deer with a 45# bow, especially with a little extra weight up front (but not necessary).  My best friend shot a bear with an old Bear Grizzly 50#, wood arrow, dacron string and two blade Delta and after passing through the chest cavity it sliced the off side legbone in two.

If I had my druthers I'd go with an Eskimo or no mercy..

thanks for all the quick replies i feel more sure now of my choice does anybody know if the screw in models are you able to get the inserts out just wandering i shoot wood with my longbow and would like to have a set for both bows duel purpose or should i get the glue on and ad my own inserts with hot melt so i can remove when i want to add to my wood arrows seems there cheaper. do deltas stand up to much stumping i prefer to practice with broadheads through  roving year around

I don't think there is a better head than a Delta.  I like the 4 blade Deltas.

I've been using Zwickey 2 blade Deltas for many years out of a 46@28 Black Widow MAIII, hunting deer, turkeys and bears - no worries at all.

I like the glue-ons because they give me options when it comes to point weight. That lets me tune the arrows to my bow. Here is the setup I use with my 46# Kanati and 47# RER:

I draw right at or just a hair under 28". I like to have the back of the broadhead touch my finger when I am at my release point, so I cut the shafts 28.5" BOP.

You could use the short aluminum insert if you wanted to get closer to 10 GPP. These paper tune like darts and shoot to the same point as my 175 grain field points. They should get you in the ballpark.

Deltas are wicked whitetail and turkey medicine!

I had a complete passthrough with my 47lb palmer and muzzy phantom two blade on a GT 35/55.

I know of a a bowhunter that shot a Bear Kodiak that was 49 pounds at 28", he drew less than 28" and shot several deer with Deltas and got pass throughs from a tree stand.  He preferred the arrow to stay in the deer so he was going with Bear 4 blades next, and he still got pass throughs. I would dare to use Deltas with just about any weight.  Extra point weight will only be needed if you need it to make your arrows fly straight. We use them on cedars.

Took my second deer with a 47# Browning, Forgewood and Zwickey 2 blade. Complete pass through at 18 yds.

I would not hesitate to go back to 2 blade zwickey Deltas. They worked fine on the two deer I shot with them I just prefer a larger blood trail that I get with the VPA's. I would go with the glue on because I think but am not sure the inserts on the screw ins are glued in with epoxy.

thanks everyone for the replies i am going to go with the glue ons. james i do like the blood trails my snuffer leaves but for this set up im going to stick with a 2 blade
