I think you should start a thread about a hunt or hunting  with your bow.

I have to agree with Shawn. I've been around here quite a while too and I notice the same thing every spring. It's just the way things are. If there were something to hunt right now, we'd be seeing hunting threads, but turkey season is still a couple weeks away for us here in Iowa,we don't have hogs of the huntable variety, and deer season is a distant memory. I'm sure we are not alone. It beats reading nothing when there is nothing to hunt.    :readit:

Agreed.

This time of year is a tough one for those waiting on weather.

We have it very good here on TG. If you are bored go over to the "other site" and see how the other side lives. "Social aggression" is a polite way of describing the attitudes.

I don't usaully share my opinion but felt I should. Maybe it's just that we're in between seasons with nothing more to talk about.

What do you think?

What do I think, you ask?

Like others have said, it's that time of year.

I checked your recent posts and I found that you have started several posts about hunting topics, which is great, so good for you.

I also noticed that you, too, have been known to start topics in PowWow which aren't necessarily hunting related as well.     :readit:

Like the topic you started recently in PowWow with a question about whether anyone has heard about an "archery shop in MI" that has history of an old arrow box that you're selling in the classifieds. I also noticed a few other non-hunting topics in your recent posts as well.

Now, I don't have a problem with that topic myself but I personally would much rather see someone's new bow than something about an archery shop in MI so I would pass over your thread and click on the "look at my new bow" thread instead.

Again, nothing wrong with the topic that you started but nothing wrong with the topics that you have no interest in either.

So, to answer your question about "What do you think?", I think maybe you should examine your own thread topics first before complaining about other people's thread topics.    ;)      :)

But, that's just me.

Lets keep Pow Wow diverse.  I like hearing about the hunting stories, but also like the information shared about bows, arrows and equipment.  It is a place where I can go for reliable information in aiding me to make informed decisions about future purchases.

Don't see anything wrong posting whatever someone wants to share as long as it is within the rules.  I then can choose to read or not.

I just posted a question on string length and brace height over here on Pow Wow because it was suggested I do so by someone over in the shooter's forum. I'm new to this site...but not traditional archery. I love to shoot and I like tinkering with my gear in between field dressings. To me it's as natural as smoke from a fire.
While I'm thinking of it, I didn't know what FOC was till I read it in TJ's handbook. Hell, if it flew straight and got deadly penetration - it was good!

I find myself skipping over more this time of year as I scroll through the threads. It's a bit of a bummer but I know it will get better again. Sometimes I catch myself looking for who is posting as much as for topics.

Hmmmm, I think I will start a thread on the deer season senario I've been pondering.

I for one like reading the different posts. I do not start many threads and the only ones I do are usually about a new bow. I would post more on the hunting threads but the only hunting I do is small game and whitetails here in IL. And heck I haven't even got to hunt but 3 or 4 days in the last 3 years since the birth of my children. My wife and I work opposite shifts so that WE raise our children not others. We do not have support up here so for the last 3 years I havent had a weekend without children as my wife pulls 12-13 hr shifts on Saturday and Sunday's. My vacations are used on family time, so as much as I'd love to have hunting stories to share I just do not have the opportunity yet.

When my children are older things will change so until then I am a backyard shooter who likes trying bows and arrows

There have been over 80,600 topics started and almost 1.5 million post in just Pow Wow alone.  I love the diversity of topics that get started.  The moderators do a great job getting rid of the ones that aren't trad related and the rest I scroll through and pick what I want,  nothing forcing me to read topics I'm not interseted in.
The search function is fine,  but I never mind someone starting a new thread about something that has already been discussed.  You often get a whole new set of folks chiming in with new information because maybe they weren't part of earlier threads or weren't even a member 1,2,3.... years/months ago.  Again, nobody is forcing anyone to read a thread that has been dicussed before. I use the search function in combination with the new threads.
Glean all the great information that is available and that interests you, skip the rest and - no stress, be happy.

Here is what I think ….

Q:     How many blues musicians does it take to change a lightbulb ?

A:      10, One to change it and the Others whining about the old one because it was so much better !!!

Looks like somebody is watching tv and does not know how to switch to another channel.

Anyhow,

I am one of those who started a thread about my bow just recently …

I'm guilty …

The only thing you can accuse me for is posting about something I felt to share with some Like-minded people on this forum.

As some others stated above: Why not starting your own threads about what you like ….. instead of complaining about others.

Don´t worry, be happy and shoot straight    :archer:
