A brand name glass pickling jar.  In the context mentioned it usually has a mountain home brew in it.   ;)

Jeff don't worry what's inside of the jar is the important thing and i'm sure it will be tasty. as for the dates. i will be headed up on wednesday and staying until sunday. anyone is more than welcome to join me. i will spend wednesday getting camp set up, hunt in the afternoon and thursday morning. folks should start showing up thursday, i hope any way. i would hate to think i have to enjoy this hunt all by myself.

just as an FYI. Dave Stein is getting activated and won't be able to join us. please send you prayers and best wishes his way as he takes off for parts unknown to defend our freedom.

Thanks guys for the prayers, I will be just fine. Don't forget our fellow troops in harms way at this very moment. I will log in when I get to my destination and check up on you all.

I might have to retire when I get back so I don’t miss another season. I almost forget what deer look like in the wild. Why can’t the AF send me on trips in the spring?  :banghead:

Enjoy the hunt but cherish the fellowship.  :campfire:

Dave, you will be on a hunt in Highland County this fall, I promise. I will let you know how we did when I come down off the mountain.

Jeff, stay away from Mason jars. They are used for breeding snakes. I am telling you this as a friend, because I know you hate them.  :readit:

I don't.  :goldtooth:

10th and 11th??  That means I'll miss you.  Ah well I'm sure others will be there.

Dave that's a bummer.  Didn't you just get back this spring?  I have a co-worker shipping out Monday.  Thank you for your sacrifice and service(and another hunting season too).

Jeff with what's in them mason jars you could pickle just about any thing you want.

Killie the photo of that deer is great. i love the way you have arranged everything. i would like to see some more folks taking these kinds of photos. i like to see the hunter in the photos but i also like to see shots like yours. heres one i did last year.

Dave there will be plenty of photos for you to look at as well as video footage.

that's the O.L. Stalker. i got it from Art Vincent a few years ago and love it. i never liked a bow quiver and my back quiver was always getting snagged on something.

Rob,
I was driving out that way yesterday.  Went all the way to Millboro Springs.  Nice little valley.  Saw the site of Ft. Dickinson

Fort Dickinson (or Dickenson's Fort) (1756 - 1760's), built by the VA colonial militia, attacked by Indians in 1756 and 1757. Located on the Cowpasture River southwest of town.

Whereabouts do you hunt?

Chuck if you were on 42/39 you went right by the turn to Millboro. you would have needed to make a left as you were going up that grade just before coming over the top of the mountain and down the really long steep grade that brings you to Millboro Springs.  of did you come by the Homestead?

I was on a business trip to Lewisburg, WV and just swung by on the way back.  I turned around at the 42/39 junction at the ice cream shop, came up 42 from 64.
