You can't help but laugh and smile at Fred's excitement ...

Fred definitely has a good time!  It's refreshing to see his optimism and excitement in lite of all of the serious "big trophy" emphasis tv outdoor shows!

Fred was always my favorite TV personality until he starting hunting with xbows! Not sure why it bothers me so much but it does!

That's a good teaser. That show is one of the few I watch if I catch it any more.

HE is about the only one I can stomach to watch any longer....some dont like his enthusiasm but from what I hear he was like that before he got on television...I have a friend that was just like that.  Watched in in binos from 200 yds doing a jig after shooting a deer. LOL

Wish he would shoot his recurve more but I like he is not overly interested in huge racks and the constant sponsor name dropping like the others.

Good luck Fred and glad you are able to do the show like you want now as the owner.  I just hope he does not fall to the power of sponsorship money and pressure to be like the others....

watched the new one yesterday, and for the first time, was really turned off. i don't know if it was the pimping of the Hoyt compound, the conversation with the camera while the mule deer is obviously still alive and in range for another shot, or the gear listing at the end.

i really like Fred, and i have watched and owned the Easton series on dvd for years.

something about the level of commercialism has made it lose its charm for me, though. i know just hunting for the trad crowd doesn't make the huge amounts of money the sponsors want, but i know for a fact that compound hunters enjoy watching guys hunt with trad gear too.

i think Fred has lost the things that set him apart from the other hunting "infomercials", and he's qucikly becoming one of the unwatchable herd of hunting commercials out there.

sad for me.

I like the idea that Fred is inclusive in his acceptance of archers who use all the various forms of equipment. After all, we traditional archers are the ones who are now in the minority, even though compound bows hadn't even been invented during the first decade that I was shooting bows. I'm very thankful that Terry created TradGang exclusively for traditional archery, but we still need to be accepting of others who help support the sport of hunting, even if they choose to use other weapons. I don't like the commercialization of the sport either, but someone has to pay the bills. Few other archers alive today have done more for traditional archery than Fred Eichler.

Have not seen anything from the new season yet, but I am a little concerned based on some of the comments I've seen here.  Ready to blow up my TV, or at least cancel the "sports" channels.  Hunting is so much more than a competitive sport or marketing opportunity. I'd hate to see ALL "hunting" shows reduced to product placement opportunities.

Well I've never been a FAN of Fred but after watching the trailer I thought I'd hit "record the series" button. BUT after watching the first show and seeing clips of "upcoming" shows I went back and hit delete series button. Just my opinion, but can't believe Trad Gang keeps this thread alive considering it's not traditional and done in poor taste. But it's up to the moderators of this site. Either way I'll not watch another episode of it. IMHO just another example of bad hunting shows.

How is it not traditional? I saw a heck of a lot of recurve footage in that teaser.

It was the episode from 2011 where Fred shot the big mulie at 8 yards with his Buffalo recurve that got me into traditional archery.

This initial introduction became a passion to the point that I have sold my compounds and now have 6 quality longbows and recurves as well as leather products, knives, bowstrings, etc. that I have bought from TG sponsor companies as a result.

Would I personally like to see more emphasis on traditional archery - yes - but we also must embrace the fact that a lot of the new members to the traditional archery scene are currently shooting "wheelie bows", and through exposure from individuals such as Fred and others, we will see the ranks grow.  The stronger we are in numbers, the more quality products we will see on the market!

I have to agree Johnnyk71, I really think Fred's show has lost something now that he is shooting the compound  more than his recurves. By carring the compound on not only his opening show of the year, but also his second episode as well really makes a statement. I think he is allowing Hoyt to make the call on the choice of weapon.I really can't see how he would be strapped for funds seeing how who he is married to and the other shows he's involved with.Like Fred but.......... not sure I'll be tuning in as much as I used to. jmo....Gary.

Fred has done the super slam with his recurve and now wants to do it with his compound. Fred is probably my favorite guy to watch, so what if he wants to use a compound some. He has done more with a recurve than almost everyone on this site! He's a great guy and supports traditional archery, He loves archery so much that he payed his dues to be a member to every states bowhunting organization!
