Looking for older/better ww´s
« on: January 19, 2007, 07:20:00 AM »
I like the Wensel Woodsman head alot but I just got 4 new packs from 3rivers and they are not the same standard as my old ones.

First I would like to make clear that this has NOTHING to do with that 3rivers own them now. The problem here, is that Magnus obviously has some weak links in their qualitycontrol !

I still have some of the older heads I have bought over the last 4 years to compare with and the grind on the new ones are more uneven and to "deep" at the vents. This causes that when the new heads are sharpened there is not material enough left at the vents ( not enough for my liking atleast )

AND... the blades are not in line with the ferule so they wont spin true. Not all the old ones spin perfect but they all spin way better then theese new heads !!

I really like the WW heads and I would like to get ahold of some good ones.
3Rivers said that I could just return them and get a store credit.
So the service from 3rivers is just fine.
They told me that Magnus is making a precision grind on the WW´s very soon !!!  :o )
BUT I dont have time to wait for that as I got some major hunts coming up this spring

SO.. does anybody know where to get better WW heads ?
There must be some of the dealers that have
heads from a better "productionrun" in stock !?

Best regards
Jacob

Jacob: If you are using carbon or aluminum shafts I think you would be very happy with the Razorcap heads. I have used the Wensels and like them a lot but the Razorcaps are stainless and much tougher than the Woodsman heads. They are more expensive but well worth it to me as they stand up to a lot more abuse than the
Woodsman.

Bill, thanks for your advice, but I actually find razorcaps weaker then WW´s
The welds breaks very easy on the razorcaps in my experience.

Terry, thank you for your offer but I am the kind of guy that only feel comfortable if I got like 12 heads with me   :knothead:

Have you tried Snuffers as an altenative? I just received 12 snuffer to compare against 12 WWs & they look to be as good (if not a little stronger)

Ray, yes I will consider the classifieds. Just dont have much experience with bying stuff from private persons over the net.

Would like to find a dealer with heads from a good productionrun.

Rob, I have tried ALL heads, I want WW´s

Anybody out there who has bought WW´s lately, which had a pretty straight grind and can mount straight ?
